Maybe RIOT is powerless to do anything about our complaints!

Most of the top voted posts these days are rants. Nerf Pike, Kench blah blah

But..... remember RIOT is only one small part of Chinese giant Tencent's vast holdings compared to, for example, their music service with 700 million users and 120 mllion active subs.

Remember the Diablo mobile disaster? The blizzard devs themselves looked like they weren't buying the BS they were dishing out on stage at blizzcon. Ya...... that's how chinese gaming companies do business.

It's about the botton line, and how may players logged in, bought stuff etc.....

If the new numbers in Asia make up for the dwindling numbers elsewhere then meh ... they don't really care.

I highly doubt that League will ever be a community driven game like Dota where the devs actually listen to and let the community paticipate in shaping the game.

I hope I am totally wrong but Riot, are your hands tied? Just be honest with us and we will work with what we have.

You are more likely to be banned from these boards for naming and shaming inters than the inters are from the game

there is plenty of evidence of games getting ruined by player feedback why? because player perception of a change buff/nerf is irrelevant and the company should 99% focus on the statistics

ie if a champion has 60% win rate in d+ and 70% after 50-100 games on the champion but it's so difficult and requires a lot of mechanical skill and stable low ping then it doesn't matter that the champion has an over all 40% win rate

the majority will be crying about the low win rate and begging for buffs when the champion is disgusting qiyana/akali/old ryze versions to give a few examples of how player perception is not relevant and devs should almost never buff/nerf based on rants

akali was at some point good but everyone was bitching about the shroud so riot decided to change her based on the rants and they slowly started ruining her and now we have a champion that barely functions only in the hands of highly skilled players

I doubt their hands are tied. Tencent isn't a game developer. They're technically not even a publisher; not in Riot's case (there's nothing to publish). They're Riot's holding company. Holding companies only buy a company if they see wealth in their current market situation. As long as their market remains strong, a holding company isn't going to say a word about how they balance their game. They're only going to step in if Riot stops making money, and even then, being that they're not game developers, what they'd most likely do is clean house and put new personnel in place to make the game.

You had it right when you said "it's about the bottom line". As long as the bottom line stays profitable, why fiddle with the formula? It'd be like buying a car you really liked, then trying to tweak the engine out despite knowing literally nothing about cars. There'd be no reason to do that, and it could only end poorly if you tried.

This is what bombarding people with constant sinophobia propaganda over at least 4 decades do to people.

When shit go wrong, people go through everything to find a single thing to do with China and then place all the blames onto it. If they can't find it, they just make it up.

Damage meta was wanted by the western player base; shorter game time was wanted by the player base; the lack of monster champions is because western players don't play them; the old rune system was strongly protested by the western community as being too boring for only providing raw stats; the rigid bot centric meta is because western players cry whenever there's anything other than adc and enchanter played at bot; western players were also the one who bullied Morello out of a job in the first place for his style favouring nerfing over buffing which the western players used to tote the "buff don't nerf" and now we're in an overloading meta etc etc. Hell, Riot even made the meta so snowbally and deathbally just so the western teams could win more in pro scene since that's the meta they like and are good at, despite constant saying they like the more strategic meta (spoiler: they don't).

Western player was the reason why the game is it today. Riot made just about 95% of the decisions based on western players' feedback. We're just a bunch of shameless fuck who can't own up to our shit taste while insisting on conjuring someone to take our own fall.

In the end, we made our own bed, but we're just too embarrassed to sleep in it. That is all.

riot gave the players what they wanted and it started with role select. still waiting for that one to be reverted. tencent lets rito do what they want as long as it makes money, cause if it don't make money it don't make sense. rito wanted to do kda, it's still making money, lord tencent is pleased. players wanted assassins to not fall off late game, they got it, not so pleased.
