Can we have scalings in the client?

Beached Manatee··145 votes·20,168 views

You know where they have the basic outline of a champion's abilities in the client? Could they also show scalings with those abilities? I like to go off-meta builds and it'd be helpful to be able to see at a glance things like, "Oh Shyv can go ap" or "FORTHELOVEOFGODDONTDOADAZIRTOYOURSELF" If you're worried about it over-complicating the page for newer players, why not make it a toggle in settings or something

Pfft improving the client? You think Riot has that kind of time?

Just go to the wiki, they'll probably think about making a plan for updating the client in about 2+ years?

Riot and doing stuff for the community. Sure. [sg-lulu]

Keep that up and you'll guarantee it to happen. This is the Season of the Meme-Killing right? (Except for trashing Jungle every season but hey)

2 B.F's for IE. Don't need to say anything else.

Hey, they didn't add a new jungle camp for a few seasons now.

Riot is too busy looking for that next quick cash grab.

"Coming next patch is Hextech Yasuo! To celebrate we are also offering these random loot boxes for 2000 RP! They have a .05% chance of having something good in them!"

Riot wouldn’t make any money off of that.

One can dream, however.

Ironic. When in another game, World of Tanks, the company added "hidden" stats (scaling) in garage (client), it made the game hella better, and made me, and prob many others, play the game for more longer.

I swear in the first draft of champion stats in the client you could see the scaling/damage type but now it's not around anymore, which is really frustrating.

100% on board with this idea.

Wacky93 votes

They used to have scalings in the Client when they first updated to the new Client, but then they removed them.

But like, the moment you summon a soldier, all your damage evaporates

BakedLotion3 votes

can we just acknowledge that kalista's tooltip in-game doesn't even state that multiple spears can stack, and how much damage each one does?

Pretty sure A LOT of other abilities do this too

VICHEL CHAOS1 votes

Kali who? Never heard of that champ

Beached Manatee1 votes

Really? I thought it did say a per spear number

BakedLotion1 votes

no it just says "pull out to deal xxx damage" lmfao. And that damage number is for one spear.

sardonisms2 votes

In one of the newer Fire Emblem games, they made all the displays a toggle. You could either see the predicted outcome of a fight in terms of remaining HP if everything hit, or see the exact damage everyone would do. Either the sum of a unit's stats, or each one individually, and which were penalized or boosted or capped.

I mention it because I'm really wishing we could have something like that in the client. You could just see the total damage from an ability (pretty silly that currently it's shown as a sum) or the factors, or the factors including ratios.

Worth noting, incidentally, that the League website already shows this information in the champion pages. I don't use the wiki because it doesn't work very well on my phone, but the site is fine. I can also see that it's pulling the numbers from somewhere, not showing what's been typed. Not sure why they don't do the same on the client.

AmenPerson2 votes

Fun fact, when they first introduced the new client, it had scalings being shown and more information on the abilities. Then they removed it for an unknown reason.

Infernape2 votes

They were broken. Certain abilities (namely those that scaled off X% per XYZ AP/AD) didn't display properly.

Al The Legion2 votes

I clicked on this fully expecting it to be about the crappy scaling with higher monitor resolutions lol

Beached Manatee1 votes

I like my 18" monitor XD

I'd even be fine with it in game if you hit a key or whatever while hovering the ability to swap between scalings and the actual damage values. The only ability I can think of with it being "jumbled mess" would be Jhin's Passive since it has like 4 scalings but everything else would be fine. The biggest problem is bonus vs total AD tbh.

Don't stop there, add in all the other stats as well. (HP per level, attack speed per level, base resistances, etc.)

Now the thing is, Riot should be able to create a system that automatically updates itself. So the system would remain accurate throughout all the patches when only a numbers change occurs. Only when a skill or champion fundamentally changes, would they have to edit the information manually.

This, on so many levels. Templating this type of thing should be trivial, they already have access to 100% of the data anyway (otherwise they couldn't show it and use it in-game).

It's almost like you didn't realize the champion overview literally right next to the abilities outline bar, it shows the damage as magic or physical, What style of combat they're likely to scale off of.

The champions damage output potential, The tankiness of selected champion, The potential zoning of the champion, The potential roam / juke possibility of said champion, The utility that the champion can provide in team fights,

And finally Last but not least, the skill ceiling or learning curve of the champion in question.

Riot will never implement something easier than this cause you're supposed to play the game and figure stuff out yourself, it's part of the climb or knowledge of the game.

If you want this to see every little stat so you can "counter pick the enemy" or "counter-build" the enemy, go to riots website champions or look at item effects..

Easy Down vote, complete waste of Dev time.

Again, it's on riots website and should never be displayed on client anyways, The resources are there but you're to lazy to implement it yourself and rather waste server space / dev time.

Here's the link below

Another easy down vote, yikes!

Why "should never be displayed on client?"

There is zero logic behind that statement.

This has nothing to do with laziness on my part. I don't have access or permissions to make changes to the client to implement this myself. (hurr "to lazy" durrr)

As stated before, it's a waste of server space and developer time as well of taking the knowledge / learning of the particular champion away from the game., it takes time to update and can delay hotfixes.

It also is A LOT cheaper to run an HTML server than a live game server, and post the exact same stats you're looking for on a web forum.

Also, you can still implement / Access this information, no permissions necessary. You just don't the meaning of "implement". So yes, it actually does have a lot of logic behind it and does come from you're laziness / Ignorance.

Again here's the link to ANY champion and their kit scaling but I'm sure denial will ensue.

If you mention "server space" in that situation, you have no idea how the tech behind LoL works.

At least you're right about developer time. THIS is the main reason. But don't talk sh*t to other people when you're the ignorant one.

And you obviously don't use the official website, or you'd know it's bugged the hell out. Half the ratios are buggy and not displayed, and some important value are not written at all. Aatrox missing health ratio isn't displayed, Sejauni W ratio just says 0, Sejuani passive doesn't give the values, and that's just the first 2 champions I checked. Hell, cooldowns aren't indicated at all anywhere...

Huh, That's weird cause bloodthirst ratios Literally would tell you that.

While toggled on Aatrox deals bonus damage and fills a portion of his Blood Well every third subsequent attack. While toggled off Aatrox restores Health every third subsequent attack.

Toggle Off: Blood Thirst: Every third attack, Aatrox restores 30/45/60/75/90 (+[{{ f1*100 }}]% Missing Health) Health. Toggle On: Blood Price: Every third attack, Aatrox deals 50/85/120/155/190 (+75% bonus Attack Damage) bonus physical damage and fills up 20% of the Blood Well.

Almost like you're illiterate.

Oh come on, YOU didn't even read the part you C/c'ed yourself... It's right there in your post, "[{{ f1*100 }}]% Missing Health"... Yeah, cool story bro, and what does that even mean? What number is "f1" supposed to be?

The most confusing thing is that you don't even know if an ability scales with total AD or bonus AD. You might end up buying item 3053 thinking it will give you tons of damage, when all your abilities scale with bonus AD and you're left with nothing.

Sad Tyrant1 votes

well, soon you won't have to worry about that

Fertsa1 votes

reminder that every champion has something with 100% AD scaling and every champion can buy items that have an AP ratio, tho that's not very reliable it's kinda fun to meme on people with AP zed

Beached Manatee1 votes

Azir doesn't. Unless you don't use any abilities but your ult and passive

Andrey03451 votes

When I was a newer player (didn't know all champs' abilities and scalings), had the same problem and when was trying out the new champ, always asked in lobby: ap or ad? Even installed mobile app with info on all champs to see it quicker lol. Don't have this issue anymore but this definitely should be implemented for clarity.

Just like how I can continue to dream for a dedicated west and east coast server in NA right?

[sg-soraka]

Beached Manatee1 votes

But then you couldn't play with people on the opposite coasts [sg-soraka]

Velasan1 votes

They wouldn't have to separate the servers into two different regions. Right now there is one set of servers located mid way in between. EUW for example has more than one set of servers since the region is so large.

LordGeovanni1 votes

But then people will know that the only reason tanks dont build damage is because they dont have the scaling to build damage even though dps mains are still gonna complain they got 1 shot by the full damage tank its much better to kill your opponent than try to survive for 0.5 seconds -3 seconds longer

Beached Manatee1 votes

Leona does [slayer-jinx-wink]

LordGeovanni1 votes

Leona doesnt build damage She builds on hit if she wants damage. which is not champion damage but on hit/ proc damage from the item which anyone can build to similar sucess (in relation to the same build not versus their best otherwise build). and that is because her Ap scalings are such trash. She has one of the weakest ap tank scalings and her base numbers are low too. Other wise Leona could make it in top lane without rushingitem 3057
