But how many of the voters were actually random.
Did they just randomly vote or did they go there because they had something to complain about and found a place to vent?
Its like claiming that 90% of people are gay according to a survey called "are you a man who likes hot sexy men?" Most people who participate probably already have their mind made up about hot sexy men.
http://www.pvpdatabase.com/?p=1253
here's the link to the poll in some odd location I've never been to before partly because I haven't been looking for some place to vent my frustrations with riot
EDIT: JUST TO FURTHER DEMONSTRATE HOW BULLSHIT THIS SURVEY IS
I've voted over 300 times now and there is now a 16% no vote... better explain for the slower people
this means that anyone could skew the results basically. Its possible to vote an unlimited number of times and with a little determination and programming skills (or google skills) you could set up your computer to repeatedly do this over and over again.
Here's the batch code to vote if you use internet explorer
@echo off start iexplore.exe -private http://www.opinionstage.com/polls/2375299/poll?wid=0
I haven't quite figured out how yet but theres a way to just use the batch file to open them all at once but a lot of computers will freeze up if you do this anyways so this manual method is probably better for those. You should be able to vote at least 100 times in 3-5 minutes.
UPDATE
less than 24 hours later (1 hour after waking up...) I've found there's still some people who don't get it..
So I've now changed the tally to 83% vs 17% but this time I used an automated process. I did so with 2 clicks and could leave it running for days if I wanted. Realistically, if I created a keyboard shortcut to kill the program and shave off seconds (you need an exit plan when you launch a rogue mouse click program) I could probably get the process down to 1 vote per 4 seconds or 900 votes/hour
20,000/900 = about 22 hours
There is also a faster method but it requires I actually be actively influencing the events unless I want to stop and plan out something to basically help bypass the seconds it takes for an internet browser to pop up. (it only takes a few seconds but 2 seconds times 900 times an hour = 1800 wasted seconds or basically 450 votes per hour)
This is all being done with casual things available to pretty much anyone willing to look for them, no illegal or shady programs.
UPDATE
http://66.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m88ocq4L2h1qkv2eso2_1280.jpg
I've gotten the vote up to 1 vote per second.. 20,000 seconds is a little over 5 hours 30 minutes...
xD and I can do it while afk
But how many of the voters were actually random.
Ah yes, the "THE RESULTS ARE BIASED, REALITY IS RACIST" argument.
Interested parties participated. People that play ARAM and thus, people that have an opinion on the question.

Ah yes, the "THE RESULTS ARE BIASED, REALITY IS RACIST" argument.
even if you dress it up as humor its still a strawman argument
Interested parties participated. People that play ARAM and thus, people that have an opinion on the question.
I play aram and I didn't participate. I also have an opinion. Which brings me back to the original question you didn't answer. How many of the voters were actually random
even if you dress it up as humor its still a strawman argument
Do you even know what a "Strawman argument" is?
That was not a strawman argument, it was a very direct refutation of a flimsy argument presented by someone in denial of reality (I.e. you).
I play aram and I didn't participate.
What relevance does that even have?
What argument are you even trying to make? the answer is; None. You do not know how to formulate an argument and are talking pure nonsense.

That wasn't direct at all. Nobody was talking about racism. When read literally with a dry outlook its just a strawman disguised as a cute joke
What relevance does that even have?

Your claim
"Interested parties participated"
My claim
"At least one didn't participate"
and once again you've evaded the question behind it all. How random were the participants. You cannot hide behind debate rules, no matter how you spin it I am asking you for math or strong logic implying some actual randomness and no matter how you spin it your constant evasion is suspicious as shit.
That wasn't direct at all. Nobody was talking about racism.
Yes, it was an analogy.
I guess maybe it went over your head...? that's really the only explanation I can figure for the above quoted.
When read literally with a dry outlook its just a strawman disguised as a cute joke
No it is not. A strawman argument is a misrepresentation of an opposing side for the purposes of propping up a specific (false) point. That is not what happened, what happened was ; I equated the garbage you spewed with garbage other people spew raising a direct parallel between each. It's called an analogy. In this case presenting an unfalsifiable hypothesis as some sort of "smoking gun" against statistical analysis, related example; "People disliked the Dynamic Queue Roundtable video because they went in wanting to dislike it (before watching)" , response; "Do you have any evidence to support such a statement that directly contradicts our available data?" and the final answer is; No.
It's really not that complicated.
Game, set and match, gg.

What is an analogy for 500 Alex ?

Its not an analogy when you intentionally misquote and invoke controversial subjects to suggest I made a claim I didn't through implication.
It's really not that complicated.
But let's say your nonsense is actually valid, which it isn't but alright let's play your little game; Can you prove that the numbers presented are skewed or otherwise fallacious? the answer is no, your argument was garbage from the beginning and it continues to be garbage.
Nope, can't prove it at all. But I am perfectly free to cast reasonable doubt.
First, yes I can prove my original claim that "the numbers can be skewed" any example would work here it doesn't even have to be directly related to this one
I am interested in such a poll and yet I did not participate meaning it wasn't given to everyone. And so we find ourselves back at my question you have been dodging endlessly. How random were the participants.
OK BREAK TIME, let me get some popcorn
what do you mean by "how random were the participants"?, could you please clarify, I dont understand what your trying to say,
thx in advance*[slayer-pantheon-popcorn]*

There are actually ways to measure randomness in statistical samples but seeing as we are probably real people the more normal method of just stating what kept the participants random(-ish) will suffice. For example, how did one find this poll and how shady did the link look.
Also I notice that you aren't actually discouraged from voting twice.. or thrice
OK BREAK TIME, let me get some popcorn

btw, I just changed the no vote to 14% by voting about 20-30 times
I would suggest, in the future, to not waste your time with Dominick Destine. It will save you time, money, and sanity.
I'm fine. There will be another him in another week. and if this is still here another 5 years from now there will be another 100 of him. May as well just share the information one way or another.
There very well might be, but Destine is known for this, he does it all the time. If you see his name, just ignore his post.
I understand that. He's just an inflammatory, passive-aggressive pseudo-intellectual that spends most of his time on the boards trying to get into arguments with people. It's not even a case of genuine misunderstanding that can be corrected -- he just really wants to argue with people endlessly.
sounds fine to me, I'm available for now
besides, its not like it can't possibly lead to anything good. I just learned some new tricks to make a point lol. I think I may try and automate the process overnight and see if I can further sway the vote lol
Or maybe I could set it up so I could do it while watching some anime or something
Exactly, arguing with him is just a waste of time. I did it myself once.....with like 8 people arguing against him.
This is the kind of logic people need to use. You have to look deeper into "facts" before you make conclusions. However, I don't believe that the majority of people wouldn't want aram not to be all champions.
someone also made 43 smurfs to upvote this thread right?
Well considering they've had 6 years it wouldn't be all that hard to believe.
But also remember that the thread is a rallying cry based upon a very improper statistical study... What if it said 87% were against it according to a study and they had some compelling story, can you say for certain that this didn't influence the upvotes?
Not to be too rude but it doesn't take a fucking rocket scientist to make a proper survey and observation and there's certainly no reason to make personal attacks like a damned child when someone asks you to give information suggesting that your data is not skewed. I hope you don't mean to try and justify such actions with your apparent sarcasm.
There have been plenty of threads about making ARAM use the full champ pool and they all get massive upvotes. You have proven your point about how this particular poll may have been biased, but you haven't given any argument against the actual request.
I'm going to copy what I already said a bit below as what I think are the ups and downs of this suggestion, if you have anything to add to this, feel free to do so:
It really has many more upsides than just screw up ARAM accounts.
- You can trade champions with any teammate
- The reroll mechanism can be simplified (1 reroll per game played)
- You can buy a champion that you would like to play in Summoner's Rift and not feel bad about it because he's weak in ARAM (seriously, when I decided to buy a new one, I always considered ARAM as the #1 filter. Took me very long and some sadness to eventually buy volibear.)
- People won't have to expect the opponent's team to be stacked with at least 2 OP champions. Games will be more random as there will be champions that you currently rarely see because they reroll them or dodge queue if they get them.
- New players can choose to play ARAM if they want to learn new champions in a quicker environment and not just the free week champs.
- When a new player likes a champ that they just played in ARAM and don't own yet, they might buy them instantly.
downsides:
- New players who don't like to play random champions that they don't own will be deterred from ARAM.
- It will be harder to get hextech crafting keys and chests in ARAM as you need to own the champ (tbh I think it's a stupid rule that you have to own the champ. It disencourages people to try out free week champs).
[{quoted}](name=Dr Poro,realm=EUW,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=pMZN45px,comment-id=0007000200000000,timestamp=2016-08-08T14:06:24.175+0000)

arguments don't go so well when you attack people for questioning the integrity of the data you present
I'm going to copy what I already said a bit below as what I think are the ups and downs of this suggestion, if you have anything to add to this, feel free to do so: 3. People might dodge more. Therefore I think it's important that with this update, Riot should do something about queue dodging in ARAM which is already problematic.
if aram is changed in a way that doesn't ultimately increase its playerbase it could be deleted rather than restored to a supposedly unpopular state to avoid issues and further complaints eventually
riot gets little despite the pros listed out of this
It could encourage people to take aram too seriously
could come back to bite them if they do it hee and not I every game mode
begins an annoying discussion on why e must unlock champs
encourages new players to have bad experiences with new champs rapidly
further tips the odds against less skilled plyers
the odds of n honest player getting a champ they actually like and bought for a reason could go way down
Giving feedback to your 8 points
is an assumption that the update will decrease the playerbase. You can speculate about that, but I think that if the pros outweigh the cons, the game will be more healthy which will attract more players in the long term.
IF more people join ARAM, it's a win on it's own. Again it's the speculation on whether there will be more or less players after the update. There are arguments for both sides. How will this change purchases directly, though? cons -People who smurf and buy their OP champs with RP will now longer do so. I don't know how big of the group this is, I think most ARAM smurfs buy it with IP. (- New players may not want to try a champion again if they've had a first bad experience with it in aram. Between brackets because I think this is a lousy argument as the same stuff happens with free week champs) (- New players may think "why buy all champs if you can play them in aram?" again lousy argument because the same counts for free week and good luck getting that one champ you want to try out in a pool of 130+) pros +People who want to buy a champion for another game mode can now freely do so without feeling bad about hurting their ARAM quality. +New players may buy a champ that they have played in ARAM when they want to play them again (+ If chests and keys remains for only owned champs, I hope that atleast the keys won't, then it may stimulate people to buy as many champs as possible. However, people may not want to play ARAM anymore, so better to make (chests and) keys for all champs, which also increases incentive to try out free week champs which imo everyone should do for their first few months)
I think it's exactly the opposite. If you MUST have a great champion or else you HAVE TO dodge, then that's increasing the competitiveness. 'You waited long enough, now you must get a great champ'. If everyone gets whacky champs occasionally, it's more fun for everyone in the end. Right now it's split up in two sides: play competitive and only buy the best champs and dodge? or play for fun and do neither. If you want to split ARAM in two camps, better make a seperated ranked queue.
How could they do this for other queues? ARAM is special because the game picks for you. You can't abuse the system because you have only 1/131 chance to get a specific champ. You can't spam a champ that you don't own. You can try out a variety of champs, though.
I don't fully understand what you mean here. Do you mean that people will think that they don't need any champs? I think that ARAM shouldn't require a solid champion pool. If you want to play 'the real game' aka summoner's rift, then yes, you'll need a champ pool, unless you only play a set of specific champs. Currently ARAM promotes you to buy a set of 30 champs, but inhibits you from buying about 60 other champs even if you would like to play them in other game modes.
You can have bad experiences in any game mode. At least in ARAM your bad game will last shorter than in any other mode (except urf). Then again, you have less time to get to know your champ properly. However, I think that your first game if you didn't already look up all the skills and stuff, you will suck anyways. In SR you might understand the basics after 15 minutes. By this time, you're so far behind that the rest of the game is screwed. If you get the basics in 15 minutes in ARAM, then that's perfect because the game might already be nearly over and if you get that champ ever again, you'll know somewhat what to do. Also if you face that champ, you'll perform better.
How so? If the less skilled player has the entire champion pool already, it doesn't matter. Everyone knows that champion pool =/= skill in league (except in ARAM). If you're talking about new players, then yes, they will have a tougher time when they play a champ for the first time. But it's already like that when they get free week champs. On top of that, if the new player gets a champ he doesn't like, he can trade with ANYONE in his team (currently they probably can't trade because they don't own their team's champs). Even if you don't own those champs, there's likely one that you would like to play. Then again, they must be willing to give you that champ, which I personally do 9/10 times but I understand if others don't. Anyways, this drawback that they get is only temporarly. In the long run they will perform better because it stimulates them to get to learn new champs. If you don't want to learn new champs, then no, ARAM is NOT for you.
Again I don't fully understand. You buy a champion to pick them in blind pick or draft pick. Having the random chance to get them in ARAM is just a small factor. Again, you currently want to buy some champs for ARAM, but you want NOT TO buy even more champs because of ARAM. I think purchasing champions should be all about being able to pick them.

Here's the batch code to vote if you use internet explorer
@echo off start iexplore.exe -private http://www.opinionstage.com/polls/2375299/poll?wid=0
- just copy and paste those 2 lines into a text file and please name it skewdresults.bat and save it to your desktop
- double click it and you should get the webpage where the actual poll is without all the extra stuff from the website. Notice that this opens in a private window so it can't collect cookies but will still record results. I'm sending you to this one to speed up your voting
- Don't vote yet or if you did just say you want to change your vote. Or just close the window and open another. Use the duplicate tab button for internet explorer, usually its "ctrl+k" repeat this until your computer slows down.
- When you're done cloning it just hold control and press W once or whatever button closes your tabs just as a demonstration... now rightclick the "no" button on the page and it wont affect any other window, keep holding the control button
- after you click no, don't move the mouse, press the w button or whichever button closes your tab.
- click > W > click > W... you should now be voting no at something like 100 votes per minute. You don't even have to wait for the vote submission animation to finish or even start, just do it rapidly until you run out of pages

I think you're really overthinking this, this was a simple non-riot affiliated poll that was used to gather public opinion and as it even says at the bottom it in no way a poll that reflects the views of all LoL players. No one would try and manipulate this
"No one would try and manipulate this"
http://memesvault.com/wp-content/uploads/Welcome-To-The-Internet-Meme-08.jpg
You'd be surprised how far one could go with so little effort to manipulate a gaming company into doing something
I'd like to have the chance of mirror picks. I really despise that I can't get X champion because my enemy has it and I can't see it so I might aswell waste a reroll.
Man most of posts in this thread are shitfest from scared ARAM-account-mains.
Dressing this poll as irrevelant, unneeded, biased, badly made, wrong.
I am only dissapointed that I haven't known about this pool earlier, as I'd love to participate
You call it a shit fest but I've voted over 300 times now and changed the % by 2. Imagine what some determined selfish people could do...
Would have been more interested in seeing opinions from the actual ARAM players instead of casuals just occasionally breezing through the mode.
The ARAM main players would likely say no since many of them are using a problem with the current system to get an advantage.
Would you rather have a likelihood of Lux, Janna and Ezreal or a likelihood of Aatrox, Udyr and Fiora?
One of these groups tends to do much better in aram then the other.
ARAM main players are probably the only people who even saw the poll to begin with. Has anyone here even heard of PVP Database before this post?
Doesn't matter. There were threads on Boards and, I assume, Reddit and other sites as well.
Yes, but specifically in posts aimed to get the attention of people who already want ARAM to use the entire champion pool. Those fine with it as it is have no real reason to visit those posts.
You could run a similar poll asking for any change and get similar results because the population your sampling isn't diverse enough.
Rebuttal: If they don't care, they most likely don't play ARAM in the first place.
You twist my words. I never said they don't care, I said they don't want that change.
I can make a post about how Yasuo should lose his wind wall, linking to some third party site for a poll, and have similar results. You could argue that Yasuo mains don't care about my post, but they'd most certainly care about losing wind wall.
You twist my words.
Nowhere I implied, it was what you meant. No, those words are mine. Also, check what "rebuttal" means, to avoid future confusion.
I can make a post about how Yasuo should lose his wind wall, linking to some third party site for a poll, and have similar results.
Those are two completely different issues. It's akin to asking "Should creepblock be removed?" and "Is Fizz cancer?"
Champion-related questions like that, are bound to be biased, regardless of the sample size.
The bias is much, much lower, when basic gameplay elements are discussed.

I main ARAM, never saw this poll, and would prefer the system roll all champs for all players.
I also main ARAM, never saw this poll, and also would prefer it to truly be random. You would see a lot more weird comps and matches might be a bit more interesting when you don't have the same champs in 9 out of every 10 matches.
The ARAM main players would likely say no
Wrong ;)
When I asked in my ARAM games, even those who are using an ARAM account say 'yes' because they only made this ARAM account to be on even grounds with other ARAM accounts.

The chances of getting a really bad champion is not that great. Also, you would have more rerolls and you can trade with anyone in your team so they can reroll too.
Then there would be more votes for yes. I've asked ingame to people around my elo ( https://euw.whatismymmr.com/dr%20poro ) and not one of them dared to say no. Maybe because they didn't want to admit that they were using an ARAM account, maybe because they legitimately want all champs played.
It really has many more upsides than just screw up ARAM accounts.
downsides:
I have 5k games in ARAM.
My opinion: Fuck aram-smurfs with biggest BBC you can find. Give us full random.
Really don't care if the survey only had 10 participants. Fact of the matter is that if you have 20 champions compared to well over 100 you're going to get the same champions more consistently and that defeats the very essence of ARAM.
" IF I WIN, I'M AMAZING. IF I LOSE, MY OPPONENTS WERE ARAM SMURFS. "
The Mantra of the ARAM Bronze League™
I know I usually won solely because of champion picks not skill lol. I can play ADC 10 games on SR and lose all 10 because it's my worst role but somehow I can always get 20+ kills and pentakills on

Wait ARAM isn't truly random? (I don't play ARAM at all)
It's random from the pool of champions you own + free week. So people abuse this by unlocking only champions that are good in that mode
some people cheat the system and riot also uses an algorithm to fix the teams somehow
Thank God decisions aren't made by casual masses.
:) has spent about 20 minutes voting several hundred times while learning to make batch files. I can add 900 votes a day now without even being at my computer lol
