Why are Rioters avoiding Elise?

A post on reddit got me wondering why every time a post mentions her and her almost unplayable state (if you want to win, or have any fun for that matter.) All that has happened was some minor changes set to ship soon, but that doesn't really solve the core problem that's missing from her identity. It seems like a band aid to appease the community, but no long term plans or even an idea of where to start about addressing what makes her strong, and unique and what are weaknesses that could be highlighted has been talked about with the community. Not bitching just curious.
