Champion Nerfs

So Lucian is set to be nerfed, yet again, and I'm wondering why champions aren't just buffed to close the gap..some champions have been nerfed so hard they are practically useless except I'm very specific match ups (Kassadin)while other simply have never been buffed. With such huge preseason changes I feel like its have been easier to do mass champion balances, and kill all your birds with one stone behaving to constantly tweak. Obviously there'd have to be some minor tweaking but I feel as if it'd be less of a constant chore. Or maybe I just don't know shit lol. :D

There's a difference between a champion being strong and OP.

Buffing other champions while another remains OP doesn't balance the scale. However, nerfing OP champions tips the scales much more dramatically in favor of other champions.

However Riot, despite having designed the champions, doesn't always see OP champions as the unstoppable death machines that they are (I'm referencing Akali, the mid lane god, who has yet to be nerfed) and tends to focus on champions who don't really need nerfs. Additionally, they have a tendency to ignore buffing champions who need it, opting to completely strip them and build them all over again.

I think Akali was nerfed recently actually. They took away her Armor and Magic Resist from her W.

and then gave her a 100% movement speed boost in her shroud to 'compensate'.

-_-
