RIP Anivia. Riot killed her cold turkey, just in time for thanksgiving.

Ok seriously riot, WHY would you totally destroy Anivia's reliable pressure with her RE combo, and not even revert her E base damage nerf you JUST DID like 2 patches ago?

You punish her reliability, but don't up the reward for getting the E bonus damage.

Please think about this riot. At least give us Anivia players SOMETHING for having to work twice as hard for our pressure. As much as I like making more walls, this change completely ruins already difficult matchups against mobile assassins like LeBlanc, Ahri, or Zed. Without reliable burst she doesn't even win otherwise decent matchups like Viktor or Syndra. This nerf is way out of line with your goals for control mages. You have talked about the reliable burst needed to threaten a zone in patch notes about champions like Orianna and Viktor, but then completely destroy Anivia's reliability with this patch.

Please reconsider, this change makes Anivia nigh unplayable in the current meta.

Even slow champions can casually walk out of Anivia's abilities in mid lane. Her effective range on her stun is ~1/2 to 2/3 of it's cast distance depending if the other guy is running away from you in a line, or tracking side to side. Her q is simply too slow to be reliable.

Similarly, her R channel is just too long to be reliable. If you play against any champion with a dash or blink, or any champion with a hard CC to disrupt the channel, you just get completely screwed.

Your comment is ignorant, uninformed, and not constructive or helpful in any way.

your comment is mislead and strawman.

I don't need to say why, for obvious reasons.

Her RE combo had no counterplay. There is nothing to discuss here anymore.

Her RE combo requires her to get close to a target and it's burst damage wasn't any more ridiculous than say, Syndra or Viktor. Saying that it lacked counterplay is fine, but when Anivia now is forced to get close to a target and maintain that distance without getting hit by a stun, or without her target simply walking out of her ultimate before it finishes channeling, and not increasing the reward for the extreme increase in the risk? That is ridiculous.

Her Q has always had an extremely slow movement speed and a really long cooldown in order to create counterplay and create a vulnerability to exploit in her plays.

The only thing that was ever reliable about her kit was her RE combo, which had an effective cooldown of about 6 seconds. Her build naturally avoids most cooldown reduction items since most do not provide the mana regeneration or flat mana she needs to handle her extreme mana costs. Compared to say, Viktor, who happily builds a morellonomicon and an hourglass to reduce hisE to a 6 second cooldown and his Q to ~3 seconds, his burst is more reliable than Anivia's, has greater range, and even less counterplay since his Q can't miss, where at least Anivia could run the risk of missing her R or the enemy flashes/dashes out of her R and the frosted debuff wore off before the E hit for damage.

There's plenty to discuss. All champions need reliable damage in a reliable kit. They all do. If you want to call that "no counterplay" under this bizarrely common idea that all damage needs to be able to be negated with a side-step, that's fine but that doesn't change its necessity. Because there is no reason to pick a carry that doesn't have reliable damage over one who does.

Wanna see a champion with unreliable damage? Warwick He's not impressing anyone with a 43% win-rate in a total of 800 games played. There is no reason to pick him instead of the ones with 10x or 20x his pick amount because they aren't an awful champion.

And he's not even a carry like Anivia is!

Don't be salty cuz now you have to actually land her skill shot to do damage. It's kinda like what happened with Ahri a couple seasons ago.

People freak out! Rofl, ~ Anivia " You mean I have to land my skillshot now? Which one is that again?"

I doubt anyone actually enjoys seeing her cast R and then E for an instant burst damage. There's literally no way to dodge this. All you gotta do is put your toe in her ult, then BAM, she casts her "rewarding" bonus damage from her E.

This requires the combination of 2 skills and level 6 to do. If you want to talk about skills that go for instant unavoidable burst damage with no counterplay, why not take a look at Viktor's Siphon Power? It's base scaling and ratios are as good as/better than Anivia's e in every way, with added shields and movement speed boosts on top of it. How is Anivia's RE combo and less fair than Syndra QW combo that can deal even MORE damage to an entire group of enemies from farther away than Anivia's RE combo can reach a single target?

We could also talk about Annie. Similar range to Anivia, but her stun and burst damage is far more reliable, and she can even blast entire groups of enemies into ashes in under 1.5 seconds if they are stacked on each other with her RE. Not even counting that her Q base damage and AP scaling is half again as high as Anivia's E scaling.

or Syndra press R to the win lol ^-^

You have a good point with Viktor's Q. Viktor's Q (Both Q + Auto): 240 + 100% AD + 90% AP Anivia's E: 300 + 100% AP

To follow up on your point:

At level 9 where Viktor could have his Q maxed (Though I know everyone maxes his laser first) He would have 72 AD so his Q could do 312 + 90% AP which is close enough to what Anivia's E does. Sure there might be a small like 1 second delay (if even) before he uses Q and gets the auto attack amp but that amp could be about as long as Anivia takes to drop her ult on the target to get the first proc of it. So really....Viktor's Q is just under Anivia's E damage with as little "counterplay".

At least with Anivia, it requires her to use her ultimate for it and it takes 225 Mana (+60 mana for every addtional second) compared to Viktor's Q which is only 65 mana. Also the Viktor would get a movement speed + shield for hitting it, while nothing for Anivia.

That's what I don't get....Yes there wasn't a lot of counterplay to the old R>E, but there are champions in the game that can also do that much (if not more) damage then her with as little counterplay while using only basic abilities, less mana and extra effects/buffs in them. Hell even Chogath's Q does more then Anivia's E and even his silence is almost stronger then it as well though I know it's hard to land Chogaths Q some times but still the point stands.

the zone she is meant to threaten with her reliable burst is the storm. not everything near her.
