Brand's ultimate and Yi's Alpha Strike (Q)

I've noticed that if Yi starts Alpha Strike while Brand's fireball is on him, it continues to the next target afterwards. Is it supposed to act like that and if so, isn't it a bit, i don't know the right word, unfair?

If it's already damage you before you alpha its fair game. Otherwise I think it should be cancelled so that yi could potentially just cancel Brands Ult if he times it right.

This was an intended change on Riot's part IIRC. Brands ult used to fizzle entirely if Yi dodged it with counterstrike making Brand's ultimate do no damage and go on full cool down.

So you tell me, is it fair for Brands ult to just disappear altogether just because one enemy dodged it?

Well Yi's alpha has always been wonky with the invulnerability. Sometimes AoE skills still hit me despite me being the middle of Alpha Strike. So I assume Brand's R counts Yi as a target to hit despite being invulnerable. That's just how Riot made it to stop brand from being completely useless in teamfights.
