Does anyone honestly like the new "Ally Slain/Enemy Slain" headers?

"We've read through your feedback and are making a number of tweaks and improvements aimed at making announcements cleaner and less intrusive. For clarity"

...

"Summoner names have been removed from some announcements for brevity."

Where was the consensus taken that this needed to be changed? Why couldn't I have participated? This is sort of a big deal imo.

Idk maybe it's just me, but I much prefer to see/read "Rivenxx420blazexx has slain fioramaster69Fiora ." What we got with this update (Taric Enemy slain Ezreal) just feels really bland to me. I don't like it at all.

I think this should be reverted- or at least should not stay the way it is. Anyone else with me?

**@Riot **Many people wish for a toggle option- would this be at all possible?

For one thing it ruins the clever summoner names like "double" or "20whitekids" since the whole point of them was to make the whole slaying someone funnier or more insulting

Toeknee9910/9/2014, 8:58:03 PM40 votes

I agree about the change. I don't like it because it feels so detached. It doesn't feel like people are playing the champs, like a bot game.

futuresight2310/9/2014, 9:08:48 PM31 votes

I guess that wasn't a bug. Now I feel embarrassed for reporting that on the bug forum.

Regardless, it was a change that didn't need to happen.

Honestly, I enjoyed the Headers from the previous patch. They looked nice and detailed, and the only time you ever saw the ones with fangs and the like was when people got multiple kills (Which was a lot less often then you thought.). The current ones ffeel almost like I shouldn't care about the people I'm playing with what so ever. It's like 'Oh, Thresh died... ok.'

Before, when I saw I name, I thought of a person, now, not so much.

JBvxZkL30d10/9/2014, 9:22:46 PM13 votes

It feels as well as looks...terribly generic.

Caustic Crusader10/9/2014, 10:05:32 PM12 votes

The thing about the new headers is that they fit perfectly with Riot's recent goal of changing things in a way that pleases nobody but does displease a fair amount of people.

is this a part of the whole "summoners don't exist anymore" thing because now it's starting to annoy the hell out of me

Cj B Dirty10/9/2014, 10:28:54 PM10 votes

Eh, in my opinion you should have the option to toggle..

Angelicate10/10/2014, 1:17:51 AM9 votes

I prefer the old announcements, just because it's nicer to see your name up there and I've seen a few funny names. Just yesterday I read an announcement that said "a grown woman is on a rampage!". It was very entertaining! Now it seems like the players aren't really a part of the game. :(

dialMARK4acti0n10/9/2014, 9:44:56 PM7 votes

It's ok but aesthetically dull

Mitsu10/9/2014, 11:40:39 PM6 votes

Rito pls. How am I supposed to get my name out there by slaying streamers when my name doesn't pop up?

Dream Forever10/10/2014, 12:05:01 AM6 votes

No, please change them back riot. Its actually terrible

Vyres10/10/2014, 12:19:47 AM6 votes

I very much dislike this change, it feels bland and looks very boring. It may as well say Bot 1 has slain Bot 2. The way it's worded and presented too makes it seem like the first champion has slain the second, which is how it's always been displayed, but it's meant to be the reverse which is just awkward and disorienting.

Bad change all around, it didn't need changed. I don't understand why game companies always want to change things that have nothing wrong with them.

MSTRSPLNTR10/9/2014, 10:02:41 PM5 votes

I'd give it a solid "meh"/10.

IMO: there was nothing wrong with the old announcements

I feel it dehumanizes/desensitizes people in league. I mean, there are always those people that rage that remind you there are people there, but a lot of the more silent ones, it just makes the game feel foreign, as though those aren't named people and more like bots. You could almost just as well change their names to Summoner 1,2,3,4,5 respectively instead and only show usernames out of game. I don't like the feel it gives to the game.

anotherAmishLady10/10/2014, 8:18:54 PM5 votes

I also REALLY miss the summoner names popping up when people die. Some of them were hilarious, and all of them made the game feel more like I was playing with real people as opposed to alone.

Why did they remove this? It seems like such a dumb idea. Someone's probably just trying to be politically correct or keep the little dead kid from feeling upset or something...but that has no place in a combat- and objective-focused game like LoL.

egoSniper10/10/2014, 12:47:30 AM4 votes

Agreed completely. Riot needs to stop fixing things that aren't broken or they're going to end up breaking their game.

Direwolfiez10/9/2014, 9:50:24 PM4 votes

I don't really like it. I preferred the way it was before. Now I only get to see the usernames if I'm looking at the champ or if I press tab.

(Taric Enemy slain Ezreal)

Taric wouldn't do that to his waifu.

i liked the old headers wtf is riot doing

ZyyyZ10/10/2014, 2:35:41 AM4 votes

I hate this new change as well. I agree that it should had been a toggle option. Let's face it. We all love killing things in League and have our name plaster all over the announcement.

TenSlashTen10/10/2014, 3:22:15 AM4 votes

Your mom has slain a poor white boy Kim Jong OOM has slain The Goverment 10/10 has slain IGN

Crownsy10/10/2014, 6:08:03 PM4 votes

Agree 100%. its a awful change, and i suspect it was in relation to the whole "lets eliminate summoners, the backbone of our entire game!"

I hate it. It was fun to see people's names pop up. I agree that it now feels like I'm playing against bots. Not that Riot has cared for about 2 years what the community thinks, but they should change this back or at least address why they think this was in anyway a good idea.

Captain Colon10/10/2014, 8:03:39 PM3 votes

Couldn't agree more. My reaction upon seeing it for the first time in game was "why did someone even feel the need to change this?" It would be one thing if it were a change that didn't really affect anything, but this is just downright bad. I think having the names on there makes people remember on a subconscious level who's really wrecking face...that's a good thing. It helps me remember at the end of the game who I might want to add as a potential duo partner.

MotherChurch10/10/2014, 3:22:26 PM3 votes

I do not like the change either. Seems completely pointless. Someone hit the nail on the head when they said it makes games feel like bot games.

Please revert this change Riot!

That was intentional? i thought it was a bug, that's really upsetting knowing that it isn't a bug... Bring back the old announcements.

Zanphyra10/11/2014, 2:54:43 PM3 votes

Honestly it looks less professional now than it did before.

Jakethenight10/10/2014, 4:49:00 PM3 votes

I hate the new headers, feels way to impersonal. They should make an option to change it back in the interface menu.

Jivvie10/17/2014, 7:16:51 PM1 votes

Complaining because of the way you see kill streaks? Just... I have seen it all from this idiotic community. When you go to DOTA foruims, all you see is people agreeing to visual updates and such. Nothing but praise. And if it actually seems bad, Valve considers it and everyone is happy. Nope. Not this retarded community. We can't see the double kills correctly. Lets make a stupid ass post about something.

Think this may be a maturity issue. Just like some kids prefer League over DOTA because DOTA seems a lot more dark and graphical. League is very cartoony and people with a child state of mind will find that better. Even with the VU, league is going a bit darker than the normal cartoony look.

Pretty sure people will find ways to complain about that too.

However, the new theme should match the VU perfectly.
