Why does riot make adc champs that ult scales off ap?

iBubbles··2 votes·1,165 views

I guess I just don't understand that. Id understand more if it scaled off of ap and ad. But, like with ashes ult it's just ap. It's kind of annoying, I want to play ashe ad but then my ult wont do any dmg. Or I could go ap ashe and do nothing for the whole game, but my ult will hurt a little bit. Does anyone want to explain the logic that goes into this?

The same reason Tryndamere and Xin's heal scale off of ability power, I guess. It can scale, but is intentionally made to scale off something not meant to be built so it doesn't become overwhelming, probably because it has decent base. Building AD would be obnoxious, and would probably result in a nerf. I mean, sure it could probably even out since MF builds AD anyway, but I don't see a huge problem personally.

because if tristana jumps over a wall and ults you dead in one shot you'd be mad. Also, adc's aren't for one shotting squishies as much as taking down tanks with consistent AA damage. Trust me you would kill yourself if ults had AD ratios on some of these champions.

The main reason why AP trist was gutted, and why AP ezreal should be as well

I guess not just ults too, any abilities really.

It's because the original design philosophy was "Attack Damage boosts your Auto Attacks, Ability Power boosts your Abilities."

Since then things have changed to where we have AD scaling champions, who's abilities scale with AD instead, but they don't want to kill off the AP builds for these champions.

OOOHH, see that makes sense. But in that case it would be a good idea to have more than just one ability do ap. Who wants to build ap when all it does is give a little bit of dmg to the ult. But, ap mf is actually pretty op.

i heard its easier to balance having some skills scale the opposite of what is intended to be built so a ability didn't become to overwhelming.

Meanwhile kats ult takes out the entire team.. I mean i guess i can understand that they are trying to balance it, but lets not make the ults useless in dmg. Like Mf ult tickles if she doesnt go ap. Give them a nerf or lower ad scaling or something, instead of useless.

mf is a aqward child, that i can agree, but do you think ashe ult was meant to be used as a damage spell and if you say just readjust it to where its more bearable then were just back in the spot we but just messier, they use the opposite ratios to make things cleaner and easier to deal with, kat main source of damage is her ult, if they made it ad then kats would be building ad.

This just in, you don't need an ad ratio on your ult to do damage as ashe. In fact, if there was one, it would have to be insanely low to keep the champion balanced

It's not that they are trying to get people to build ap, but they are keeping doors open for diverse builds, so you could, say, get a gunblade, and the whole ap part of it would not be completely useless and wasted gold. There is such a thing as overloading a champion, and if ashe had an ad ratio on her ult, it would have to be so low it might as well not exist
