Why do people hate Riven so much?

I've been lurking around the forums for a while now, and I've noticed Riven seems to get a larger than average amount of hate. What I've been wondering is why people hate her that much? I get that she's snowbally and a noobstomper (which sucks if your toplaner gets outskilled) as well as pretty hard to pin down, but is she really that bad? There's more champs that snowball/are hard to pin down yet they generally seem to take less flak.

Generally when I vs a Riven I feel there's at least skill/input from my side involved (can I play safe enough or harass to get a kill with jungler assistance?

4 dashes + flash HUGE damage large ability to snow ball ad scaling shield easy to play

People feel her kit is overloaded, Lots of Damage, Mobility, gets stronger defensively from building offensively aka (E), has 2 forms of CC, an execute, and lots of dueling potential. All of which have pretty low cool downs.

Overloaded kit Snowballs too hard rewarded for building wrong (offensively scaling shield) Too much AoE bs Toxic playerbase

Laning vs her is basically a survival lane not one you win unless she's mentally retarded. If you die to her once your lane is lost and she will be able to tower dive you everytime she gets her ult up and walk away cause of her dumb shield. Survive her lane and she'll just roam and pick up a kill then you're fucked for surviving

Brainlessly easy gameplay (Multiple low CD dashes) Extremely high damage with low counterplay possibility Absurd late game scaling Absurd early game damage

She's the Lee Sin of top lane.

Why do people keep asking this question without doing any forum searches?

Seriously, it's like a troll now how often this question gets asked by mid ELO players who are maining her few soft or hard counters. (high ELO players know why she's hated even if they themselves can deal with her)

Look, it's brain dead obvious: The animation cancelling is cheating, her mobility is on too low a CD for a resourceless champion, the shield scales with AD and also has a stupid low CD on top of being a blink so it's balanced into her overall sustain giving her an EHP equal to the shield and potentially twice the shield's HP in a long engagement where she's at max CDR. All Rivens build max CDR.

The execute and AD steroid ult are icing on the cake but it's really her passive and mobility together that are infuriating. Just gut her mobility and let her keep her damage. The mobility and damage wouldn't mean a whole lot without the execute or AD ult steroid, and the stun is irritating and lets her teamfight, but neither of those should be touched because they are her identity. The Q and E are not.

it's more a meme, rather than serious. most of the salt are coming from scrubs who don't know how to play against riven.

Outplay potential is not out skill potential. Having one extra button to push when everyone else has one less does not feel fair. And that's what mechanically enable champions like Riven do. They have enough power in two of their main abilities that they don't need a third. But they have one anyway.

Because while yes it may be hard to be a god with her, she's still very easy to play and do well with. Her kit allows her to play extremely safe and extremely aggressive. An "assassin/fighter" shouldn't have a free shield that scales with ad every few seconds, aoe stun, aoe execute, and so many dashes.

Low counterplay - the only way to beat a good Riven is to survive her burst and later sustained dmg (40 % cdr op); then smack her, if she doesn't run away. Few champions have such kits and even they can be cheesed from a brush etc.

I think it's because people think they can play against her like they can most top laners (just duke it out) and end up feeding. IMO her passive is the only thing about her kit I would consider remotely close to op. Otherwise I think she's in a reasonable spot

Low cd, 2 aoe hard cc, shield based on ad, 4 dashes, and bonus damage if weaved correctly. Takes some skill, but is incredibly oppressive if in the right hands, like that Bitch Le'Blanc who tower dives just to auto with no turret agro ever, cuz fuck the system.

"Always safe" (which is untrue imo).

AoE execute.

And most players who complain about Riven are low ELO players (where Riven generally stomps every game).
