Does being unranked have any effect on who you get paired with in norms?

Before I get started, I'm not complaining about bad teams and omgelohell crap, I'm just wondering what's up. I haven't felt like ranked this season, so I've just been playing norms. Lately I've been in a lot of games where the mechanics just seem very lacking. I support every game (30 second queue times yay) and the last solid 10 games, the ADC hasn't been able to dodge skillshots, is misclicking and hitting minions while we fight, doesn't know when to fight/back off. Should I get myself ranked? Am I getting matched with any skill tier being unranked? I always thought there was a hidden mmr in norms so you got matched with roughly the same skill set, but it's not seeming that way haha. Thanks!

I understand, my advice tbh and fair is just play some ranked and don't worry about normals for a while. Many times in normals the games go nothing like they would in ranked, ppl are relaxed trying new things. People are more serious in play in ranked, if you do some ranked you may get better teammates who are focused on winning games as opposed to casual players who don't mind losing.

The way they do it is if you have a high mmr, someone one their team will. It doesn't mean every one will be at the same. I'm thinking of starting ranked too because sure I don't always whin lane, but at least I won't feed when I lose.

Hm, still doesn't really make sense. I'm not new to ranked or anything, I've been ranked the past two or three seasons, but not feeling it this season. Too much frustration.

Play ranked, avoid support unless your playing a support that can potentially carry, lulu, morg, zyra, leona. norms are where many new players will be and ppl try lanes they are not used to, just try ranked or take top/mid or jg, solo lanes give you better potential to get ahead and carry.

I'm not so much looking for tips on how to carry, just curious why I'm getting the teams I'm paired with. True that people try new roles in norms, but to be fair, every role is similar in the aspect that you need to know how to dodge skillshots haha. I'm curious if it'll change if I get ranked in silver, or remain unranked. I know bad games happen, but not this often haha

There shouldn't be any effect of your Ranked status on Normals. Normals just have bad matchmaking for a variety of reasons, especially now that more people are playing Ranked (allegedly).

Ranked kinda effects who you get paired with, but not like you're thinking.

Usually people either play primarily Ranked or primarily Normal. Your MMR (what determines who you get paired with/against) doesn't transfer between the two, so generally people either improve in one or the other. So if you play almost all Normals, and someone in Diamond hasn't played Normals in a year, you might have an MMR higher than them.

TBH, your being matched with players of your level in either case, maybe your projecting and finding fault in others when the games go bad, but the odds of always getting a bad team are slim at best, if your consistently having bad games you should look at your game not your teams. just my opinion.

I'm not saying you're wrong for thinking that, but I'm a very experienced support, my KDA is 19/20 times very good even on a loss, and I'm capable of dodging skill shots and being able to avoid misclicks. I know there are a lot of posts going on about "omg my team so bad I deserve diamond", but this isn't one. I know I'm silver elo, but I'd like to at least play with silver elo.
