Anti-Assassin Mage

Hello Guys, my 2 main picks for mid is Ziggs and Vel'Koz, I feel bad to lock-in those 2 mages when i know already i'm against an assassin. Exemple: Leblanc (worst ennemie), Zed, Diana etc... Well, i'm doing so good my job as a mage even if i struggle in lane, i would really like to kill the lane vs those assassin. Exemple, Vlad can ignore Zed and still farming and harass, but end of story, Zed can still do what he is good at, killing people. And Vlad can't change a thing about it until minute 30 But hey, unless its a troll, you aren't suppose to win your lane. But i make it work, specially with ziggs.

Do you have any mage in mind i should have as a third pick? i already tried a load of Morgana and Karma. It works fine. I'm a Vladimir player too, so its good pick sometimes. But Vladimir is far of being a Velk'koz or Ziggs type. I still want to be more than a fkin counter pick to a stupid useless assassin. counter pick to counter pick sounds so newbie to me... i'm looking for a pick that does well against and also well for MY TEAM later on.

I have a decent or good knowledge on most of playable champ. What about Cho'gath?

Give assassins space aids and vomit on them every time they jump in with Malzahar

more utillity:Karma Morgana Lulu , their shields keeps you alive vs all-ins, their cc can screw assasins in skirmishes/teamfights, and you can pke them hard in lane. more damage:Malzahar Annie Lissandra Instant hard cc and massive burst is the bane of most assains, as they are squishy and rely on mobillity to dodge damage. Diana and Zed can be nasty matchups though, zed cause of his poke/waveclear, and diana cause she can be tanky enough to survive your burst and kill you afterwards. All three are also strong at shoveing in waves and bullying meeles early. situational:Anivia Lux Swain for lux the same applys as for utillity champs, just that you have less reliable cc/lower base stats, so you should get 2-3 points into your shield early to make sure you survive any all-in, your base damage with passive is high enough to return good damage, and ult still gives you some kill-potential. Anivia is strong vs the lower range/not 100% slippery assasins, if they get close to her, you have an easy stun, and her Q+E out-bursts any assasin with ease. You also have your egg vs one-shots, though it's usually only off use if you can get in towerrange or have allys for backup. wouldn't recomand her vs fizz or ecco, zed and yasuo only if your confident in your skills with her. Veigar works vs Lb and Ahrie if played well, they have troubls getting on you through your E, and your ult can nearly oneshot them as they tend to be squishy with alot ap while going into your ult range. Swain is strong vs any melee, his E+Q+AAs wins most early trades, and with catalyst+ult, no assasin should be able to 1v1 you. Ahrie and LB are dangerous, as they are half mage and can poke you from afar. you could pick Xerath vs more telegraphed assasins, as his E is instant and good to land if they dash right at you, though it usually is a skill matchup and if you miss that stun, your done for

There are alot more other options to counter assains mid which, but they are no mages

There are many ways, your champs just happen to have trouble against assassins.

Lulu if you don't care about not dealing enough damage. Malzahar Annie if you don't want enemies to have fun. Veigar if you wanna say "fuck you" to those smelly dashy champions and 100-0 squishies like mad, even though it's not the easiest to pull off.

I like playing lissandra and she is extremely strong against all the guys you mentioned

Cho is going to be like vlad, you will be safe but you probably cant kill them.

Lissadra with her ult has great kill potential on most assasin types.

Seriously, the Malz posts are so right, been playing the crap outta him lately. best part, he is not only a mage, but an assassin as well. Zed ults, ult him back, I played a game yesterday vs a yasuo mid, I killed him with space aids and 1 q. He's the ultimate assassin killer (kindred too! space aids at the end of ult!)

Diana is a very good assassin/fighter who is very good against other assassins.

The following may be good choices.

Malzahar is a great duelist with a lot of burst. If you get your combo off successfully, you will kill pretty much everyone within the duration of your ultimate. If an assassin jumps on you, lock them down and kill them (whether in lane or teamfights).

Heimerdinger can easily shove waves and will punish engages heavily. If they jump on you, your turrets will deal a massive amount of damage to them.

Viktor can heavily poke melee champions with his Q (and E if they farm), has great waveclear and burst damage, and can drop his W beneath himself if they engage.

Lissandra can harass melee champions out of lane and lock-down targets quite easily (leaving an assassin vulnerable). Her ultimate is great for surviving or singling one out during teamfights.

Swain has good target burst damage, CC, and durability. His harass against melee targets in lane is quite strong as well, though he suffers from a lack of waveclear.

Lulu is the anti-asssassin, plain and simple. Everything in your kit can be used to screw them over heavily.

A few of my anti-assassin mages are Lulu, Galio, Lissandra, Ahri, and Orianna. Most reliable one to fight against LB from the list is probably Lissandra.

Heimerdinger is cursed by pretty much every melee champion.

They can't get close to him OR his turrets without eating a ton of damage.
