New Zed Ult

In this recent preseason update, a lot of things have changed. I've been fiddling with the new items and such, and it's great. In my recent Zed game, I noticed his ultimate passive in action, but I noticed something. Whenever I come near a champion that has more ad than the last target, a still shuriken resides above their head. I could infer that his new passive did that, but I never really thought if it were like Rengar's ult. Does it give away your position and allow the enemy team with the people who have more AD know of your presence or does the shuriken only show up for me?
