jet another "help me choose a champion" thread

Hey, long story short i am looking for a new champion for my solo play. Im still only lvl20, not even playing ranked. However, i wouldnt mind doing so eventually. Now im mostlyplaying Morgana as an AP mid/top, Sivir as pusher, Kata as an assassin and Ashe as a bottomlaner. Mostly i roll with ashe, but she gets a bit booring from time to time. As she has really simple mechanics (same as other forementioned champs). I want to kick the game up a notch, have some diversity and make the games not so dull and similair anymore. So therefore im searching for a new champion. Currently, based on gamestyle an visual appearances i am looking at Riven, Vi, Zed ane maybe Fiora or Diana. Now, the most im lemanning towards Vi and Zed, but i would like to roll wih the other menioned champs. How do hese guys compare to the rest of the champs withe same function. How likely are nerfs or boosts about to affect these guys? Maybe im looking at totally underpowered guys and hould stick to meta? Maybe there are some other cool toons that i have missed? I would really appreciate if you could discuss the pros and cons of the mentioned champs!

In any case any answer will be much appreciated! Thanks

vi and zed are both really strong, if you like that kind of play style maybe check out akali, diana, or lee sin, all really good single target damage.

Vi and Zed both do their roles well, I wouldn't say either of them are underpowered. Take a look at Lee Sin as well. He had an overloaded kit (2 jumps, execute, aoe, slow, shield, life steal, knockback, reveal) and will pretty much always be viable.

Riven is a snowballing machine if you build right, able to dish out some sick damage and come out of nowhere in a teamfight. Vi is a pretty nice jungler with some really strong ganking/split-pushing abilities; however, she is also very weak at dueling early and this may result in getting counter-jungler by an experienced player. Zed is a champion I have not played yet, but he has some mechanics which make him a challenging yet deadly assassin. Your burst is ridiculous, but you are very squishy. Your job is to simply take out the strongest carry before you are focused and destroyed by the other team. Fiora can be a pain in the butt for more top lane champions, as she has great agility and deals good damage and generally gets the entire enemy team to buy item 3075... which is not enough to stop her. Diana is another strong assassin, with a strong gap closer, as well as fantastic roaming potential.

SO you say you want mechanics as well as diversity and a fun play style? I would advise Riven. Mastering her is not as easy as it looks because of cancelling, and she can go top lane or the jungle (I suppose mid or adc bot, but generally not so much). If you don't end up liking her, perhaps Diana for an assassin, as she does not have an ultimate cancelled by item 3140.

Imo sticking to meta isnt actually needed. For example I actually picked up Zed when his big ult shadow nerf hit and had fun with him. All that to say find a fun champ and dont worry too much about meta.

That being said, dont cheese.

Diana is a fun and decently simple champ and ap assassin, and you can also transition her to jg if you pick that position up.

Zed is a fun mid and sometimes top lane and is a great Ad addition to a team with ap top or jg. He is recognizable enough that a first or second pick zed will bring out a lot of his counters, but for normals, playing against your counters can be the best way to learn.

If you like bursty mages with lots of options also look into leblanc and ahri. They both offer a large amount of positioning and damage that make them creative and exciting.

As for your top options, riven is another champ that draws a lot of counters but had amazing outplay potential and vi is a great champ if you like going in hard, but also like to stay alive (unlike say a kat who may not always get out).

Other top laners that offer an interesting lane are GP and Jax. GP has a lot of options with his barrel placement and a global ult and Jax can blow up single targets and is a good split pusher as well.

Sorta ranbling but hope that helps!

Zed is a very safe assassin in laning. You have an escape, good last hitting and good waveclear/poke. You have to try and roam a lot to get yourself snowballing so you can be as impactful in the midgame as possible. Once you're strong, having your ult is pretty much a free kill on anyone who isn't a full tank. You'll start to fall off later though, because your burst is slow compared to other assassins, and people can negate your ultimate mark with items. He does take a bit of practice to pick up, but with the new item that is coming out, I'd say it is worth. I suggest you try him out during a free week first, because he is pretty expensive.

all right, thanks for the answers. Couple of things now I have understood. Zed, is really not my type of a guy. He sometimes seems too tanky and slow for my taste. I really like the Zed's concept of using shadow-steps, teleporting and having some ground control. Not sure about how squishy and how much damage output he has. About Akali, I have tried her, she seems cool, but I also missed the punching power in her. The ultimate is cool and makes enemies wonder about where will she pop up. But in my book I wouldn't call it a strong ult. Mages - I am not sure if I enjoy them as much. Because, as bursty as they are, they are still glass canons and a good physical champ can easy gank them and take neutralize them. <- not always of course, but you have to be extra cautious. Also, for the champ I would prefer more mid-late game one. Since, I usually play Summoners rift and its quite usual to pull trough till the lvl 15-17. I tried Leblanc couple of times, but she seemed to be strong in the beginning of the game and get weaker by the time everyone is around lvl 14. I am still thinking, but from my listed champions, how do they compare to the others - i mean I also don't want a champion that relies on a in dept knowledge of opponents just jet. As I play the game more casually and I am not planning to study each champions play style more than reading what he does. After your replies and some youtube time I am tilted more towards Diana or Vi. However, maybe you could elaborate on Kindred as well? I've seen her in couple of games and she seems really fun to play in the same team with as well as pain when she is in the enemy team. I am not sure about her damage and utilities, but the mechanics seem quite nice.

Thanks again
