Why All the Yasuo and Lee Hate?

TheAustinWorm·5/7/2017, 2:13:11 AM·10 votes·2,144 views

I've noticed a lot of complaints and hatred towards Lee Sin and Yasuo on the boards lately, and I personally don't understand it. First of all, burn me on the stake for saying this, but I don't find them annoying to play against. I used to play Yasuo, and have mained Lee for a while now. People tend to claim "they are easy to play" and to an extent, they are correct. However, both these champs DO have a high skill cap, and there is a noticeable difference between a skilled player and one who is playing them because he/she heard they were "OP". I think what needs to be done, is to make these champions weaker for a novice player, but make them rewarding for someone who has truly mastered them. Not sure how this could be done, but I'm sure Riot could find a way.

Feel free to write you opinions and thoughts down below, I'd enjoy hearing your guys' ideas and opinions :)

Even if the champions aren't strong, their kits are made in a way that provides every tool for every situation. They control when and where they want to fight. And they can only lose if the person playing them messes up, they can't be outplayed as long as the player uses his champion's tools.

To me, Yasou isn't that OP when compared to other champions. Hes just way too damn annoying to play against. Lee is almost the same way but hes actually good (not OP, but a lot stronger then most).

I used to be able to tell bad lees from good lees, but now... nope. all lees look good.

I remember about a year ago NB3 said "greedy lees build damage. Lee falls off so a good lee gets his teammates fed and builds tank"

it's been AGES since I've seen a tank lee.

neither of them frustrate me to any degree. I hate them because too many people play them and make the game stale. I would kill to play against a mid laner that isn't fizz, leblanc, kassadin, zed or yasuo. Not to mention that the people who "main" them are usually 14 years old, have massive egos, and are very bad at the game, so seeing someone lock in yas or lee on my team just makes me sigh audibly.

I have never played either of those champions nor do I plan too. I don't find either of them too frustrating, both of them can be outplayed and aren't too oppressive, unless they have been fed.

I find it really annoying when it's nearly as likely to see at least one of these two champions in my game (pick or ban), than not. These two champions out of a whole pool of 130+ champions. I'm sick of this shit, it gets boring. So many champions, but they seem about as real as climate change is to conspiracy theorists. They're a hoax I tell you! We only really have 80 champions, with a few of them in nearly every game. Those extra 50+ are just to entice unsuspecting new players into thinking that there's a lot of variation.

Yasuo is the ultimate puglord. I've seen Yas players start 0-8 and get a penta in the same game, and punishing anyone else that hard in a lane early in this fast meta can't be erased by getting 2 items.

Lee has just been too good for too long, and he is the jungle king of every meta. He erases ally mistakes, can build whatever he wants and still be effective, and can help win 3 lanes while bullying the opponent jungle simultaneously.

Competent organized teams can deal with them, but they're nightmares for the majority of unorganized solo/dynamic queue players. I don't care that some Korean team doesn't have a problem with some other Korean team playing a champ in a tournament. I do care that Yas just bought an item, my top laner went from ahead to shit canned, and my team has already dropped the "open mid".

For me its 3 main reasons:

  1. they have a combination of no mana and extreme mobility which for me is the worst possible design and ruins all the fun

  2. they are impossible to properly outplay, IF you play perfectly with Yasuo or Lee there is 99% chance that you will do whatever you want, the only counterplay to them is the player fucking up which is somewhat balanced by them being very hard to play perfectly well, but again its another terrible terrible design

  3. they are in EVERY - FUCKING - GAME , even if they werent already annoying as they are, I would still get sick of seeing them every goddamn game, this game is fun due to its diversity and them being played every time removes one of leagues core strenghts which is that the game is never the same as the last one

Mind you that I feel that champions like Fiora, Riven and Vayne have very similar problems and are also really hated so I am pretty sure that my opinion is legit, only reason I dont get sick of them is because they dont have 150% playrate like Yasuo or Lee. Hope that summs it up for you.

I will only hate Yasuo until 10 bans are out. Then I will never have to hate him again.

If I had to choose between Yasuo or Lee as my enemy I would take the Lee. Yes, his ult damage is stupid for what it does, but at least I don't have to deal with the "look at me, I'm dashing" syndrome Yasuo has in lane.

don't bother if you want to keep your sanity. this forum is all silver and gold with alternate accounts so you don't actually expose them.

am going to stop arguing from now on. let everyone come up with their facts as they like i guess
