Steamroll games aren't fun

Winning is great. It's fun and it feels good, but nothing feels better than winning one of those super close long games. And nothing is worse than getting completely steam rolled by the enemy team. I'm not a fan of this s6 play style I hope it isn't gonna be like this.

Steamroll games are not fun to win or lose (okay sometimes they are to win, but not if it is all the time or too often). I always preferred the gameplay post 20 minutes...which usually now lasts a whole 5 minutes at most. Riot has basically taken away the good part of league for me and replaced it with only the first 20 minutes of games which I always preferred to just get through and over with.

last game i played in blind pick and nidalee said she wanted mid before i join the room and she kept her smite until the last 5 seconds, i thought i was top so i picked xin zhao with teleport... turns out i was jungling without smite, couldnt buy machete,i stayed behind all game, the enemy had lee sin that was ganking every second and the game was pretty much over around 10 min (nidalee even rage quitted). Finally 20 min arrived and i wanted to surrender, but the team thought we could make a comeback so it was 2/2...

i had to play that game for like 30 min while they stomped our faces in every single fight, plus they must have had some really fun time and didnt want to end the game, even tough they had 2 inhibitors

The comeback is **NOT **real

Play Dominion.

Not snowbally at all, ample team fights, all champion classes are equally useful.

I've never played such one-sided games so often. I mean yeah, every once in a while a steamroll game would happen, but now it's just constant. Enemy s@20 two games in a row last night. And it was almost over before 20 minutes anyways.

Riot's had a habit lately of buffing or reworking champions into things that are fun to play, just horrible to play against.

I had the most boring win yesterday. enemy team gets snowballed on by a super risky cheese gank from mid, 15 minute win. I was about to just AFK that shit, it felt longer than multiple 50 minute games I've had.

Getting steamrolled isn't fun, steamrolling isn't fun.

I once saw a player say something very true, i'll quote it.

"If you're having fun in league then the people you're vsing most likely aren't" ~ Jamesornator (Me)

It´s the preseason, not S6. S6 will start somewhere around january.

The game is pretty chaotic right now, but if we take the complaining to far, Riot´ll never dare to propose drastic changes. I dislike Trynda/Yasuo (or especially: Warriors Bloodlust) as much as you do, but I think IF Riot wants to try some crazy sh*t, the time is the preseason!

So I´ll not let it get to me, just like the last... 4 years?

So why are games snowbally?

It might be because:

  • The gold changes, meaning there might be greater gold advantage when ahead.
  • People are still learning how to adapt to the new preseason.
  • People are playing new champions, which always is easier when ahead than when behind.
  • The unbalanced champions, that're somehow not permabanned despite being op.

Perhaps even a combination. I'm kind of interested in the answer to this honestly.

Even being on the steamrolling team isnt fun. It just feels evil. And I'm all for rewarding players that can make early aggressive plays, but what about rewarding players that like to play late game champs that turtle for a bit and then rofl stomp when they get stronger?

Maddtimm--I absolutely agree! With the new update--win or lose LOL is now totally boring! The speed with which the team that meets whatever criteria they've built into the programming--stronger minions, weaker towers etc.--that allows the so called "winning" team to steamroll over the challenger--what use are late and mid game champs like Viegar? Not much! The game's over before those guys get rolling. When the winning team says 2 ez--you know it was a dud of a game for both sides. If this is the new LOL my friend list is going to be less populated than ever. It's just too boring to bother with. It's unfair to put the so called "losing" team on unequal footing!

For me, even last season, the majority of my games where like that: Steamrolled, either for or against me. I just depended on what teammates I got randomized with.

I do agree that these changes seem to be pushing the game to make that scenario more likely, but I think its still too early to make a definite judgment.

People are learning lots of new stuff right now, between the rift herald, the new masteries, items etc. Heck, for the first 2 days, every game had 2+ adc's in it. Since then, its seemed to have mellowed out.

It is certain that there will be adjustments made by RIOT as the preseason continues. That is part of what the preseason is for: Throwing out major changes and seeing what happens and trying to balance it before the regular season starts.

TLDR- I think its too early to say exactly how these changes have effected the game, though I am concerned about the current state atm. Give it time (2 or 3 patches) and see what RIOT does. Its preseason. Have fun, learn, adapt, overcome, dominate!

I think that steamrolling takes the fun out of both winning and losing. If you lose because you were genuinely outplayed, that is an opportunity to improve on your mechanics, and to learn for next game. If you lose because the enemy has more sustain/poke than you, and took outer turret before you, then won the whole game from that advantage, that's not rewarding. That's cookie-cutter counterpicking.

Same goes for winning. If you initiated/followed up on that final teamfight, won it, and slipped in a nexus rush late game, that feels SOOOO rewarding. You can say: "I made the right call, and my team benefited from it."

None of that exists anymore

I miss the previous seasons S2, S3 and S4 when the only things that was unbalanced were some champs and not the items/gameplay themselves. It actually started changing at a slow pace when Riot introduced BOTRK and people started complaining about its attributes by then (too much dps based on life percentage + good chunk of lifesteal etc). S5 was still ok. But holy shit, the game now feels not only quick and uninteresting but also extremely BORING. No more tactics, no more warding, no more team cohesion, just Stompfest since the early game with your usual champs like Yasuo Darius Graves Fiora and Graves having the insane damage output by their broken items.

I think the shorter game time would actually be good if it was a compact version of full games, but right now almost every game I've played just ends at 2-3 items. I don't like this at all because I don't think it's fun to end every game at 3 items having known the outcome since 10 minutes in.

Nothing is better then being up at 40 mins and losing baron and losing the entire game cause of 1 mistake. Sane concept you make a mistake u get punished
