Hi, according to several pages like champion.gg most players start with Spellthief's Edge with Bard. With the 7.13 Ancient Coin buff (25/40 gold per coin instead of 20/30 and 15% missing mana instead of 8%), wouldn't the Ancient Coin be better for Bard as he can spam his Q and his W much more (i.e. he and the ADC can play more aggressively)?
it sounds good when you think about it but you have to consider how much you are going to be leaving lane for bard's passive and to help other lanes so it's just best to stick to the spell thief's
I actually like using Coin on Bard but it all depends on how deep one goes into Bards passive and if you tend to leave your lane often to farm chimes (if you do then you want the Spellthief).
Both are fine, coin for mana regen picking up the coins, spellthief for on hit damage, more gold and the movespeed passive.
With spellthief your empowered aa's give 3+8+8 gold, and deal 10+10+aa+meep damage. You can bully much more easily
