Is it reportable to give tips?

Can you be banned for giving tips or advice, e.g. by saying "pls stay with your team tristana, youre too squishy to go in alone"? An emissary on the German forums told me this is bannable because you're effectively telling that player that he is bad so he can report you for flaming, but I don't really believe that since you have to be able to give feedback somehow.

If you do it in a positive manner that is actually helpful, should be fine. Keep in mind, not everyone wants your help though. Maybe they just want to play a game of League of Legends and want to chill.

That's probably not what the Emissary meant; giving direction and advice to your teammates isn't inherently bad, but you have to be respectful about it and understand that you aren't their boss. If they don't like your idea they aren't compelled to follow it. Some people might snap at you if they are frustrated and think you're trying to act superior, so if they get defensive just back off. You're not going to be punished just because they didn't want your input, though.

Let me say it like that.

If you go to your Adc and say, "Go and fucking buy Mortal Reminder you idiot, otherwise we will lose." You will probably get reported and can be punished. If you constantly tell someone what to build and try to control his gameplay saying it similiar to above example, you can be banned.

If you say to your Cho'Gath, who failed to execute someone with his Ult, "If your Ult is enough to kill someone, there will be a red circle around them.", you will not get reported normally, and even if, i highly doubt it would punish you for speaking in a civilized manner.

Tl;Dr: Giving friendly formulated advices and tips they may not know, isnt punishable. What is punishable is to command people around and constantly tell them what to do. Bossing around is bad.

I've never seen someone banned over this. If you say it like that, i highly doubt you will ever see a CR. If you were to insist, e.g. tell her multiple times again and again, then it would get annyoing, but if you just say it once annd leave it at that... No.

I think it's already been nailed, but perceived tone makes all the difference. Most people don't like being "told" how to play.

Bad: $#^$% Trist you $^$%^ stay with the $^$% ^$^$ $^$%^$$ team!!! Should be okay: Trist, can you stay with the team please? Probably best: Guys, we need to protect Trist so she can do her thing. :3

A ... smiley or cat face(that's what I call :3 by the by) can make everything seem less negative than it could be(depending on cultural mores, I suppose). This latter way, you're telling Trist off-handedly she might be playing too aggressively and needs her team, while also trying to rally a grouping call to your team around a possibly over-extending Trist. Sometimes, you have to rally your team around the over-extender, rather than reel them in.

I find people to be more responsive if you include yourself in the mistake (even if you weren't anywhere near it). If you want to give direct advice it's really hard to pull off. People often perceive it as a personal attack because they're being singled out after a mistake.

'Hey tristy lets be a little more careful, x is hitting really hard lol.' 'Hey tristy lets stick closer together, they have dumb luck finding us out alone' or such.

Then again it's how I usually talk.
