Is this what Solo-Queue has been warped into?

I just queued up for a Solo-Queue, feeling optimistic. The last 2 games went well, so why not this one, yeah?

Upon entering Champion Select, I was met with foreboding silence from my teammates. Not a word was spoke, from anyone but me. After watching each person silently choose a champion for each consecutive, remaining role, I decided my chances would most likely be better with a team that actually made an effort to organize and deliberate. I've attached the chat logs.

You would think that in a game where communication is key to victory, people would, you know, communicate. But apparently not. I know it's a possibility but I don't think it's likely that all 4 of my teammates were chat-banned/restricted.

This is a sad sight to see, particularly in a mode where ranking is at stake.

** 'Disconnected' Players, Trolls, Obsessive Compulsive Feeding Disorder, Soraka Jungle, you name it, I've seen it in Solo-Queue. I can deal with that.**

What I can't deal with are people who make it clear they aren't going to make an effort by not communicating. There's no excuse to not communicate with your teammates, especially in Ranked.

I feel safe in solo queue when nobody talks.

In the majority of my experiences, when nobody talks in champ select, that means everybody is comfortable with whatever is banned, they can play any role competently, and they are probably not going to rage.

When I have a lobby like that, I feel great, and most of my wins come from silent lobbies. It is players like you that I'm actually afraid of when I get otherwise silent lobbies. The "lone talker" is typically the one to verbally abuse or waste their time typing to the point of negatively affecting their own performance. Now, that has no bearing on you, Its Raining Men, but that's been my experience.

In my experiences, silent lobbies are a gift from the solo queue gods. Teammates who know how to play, and are willing to just play the damn game without talking, who use pings effectively, and only say the occasional "baron" "shit" "wow", are a godsend.

not communicating isnt that bad. i regularly go entire games without saying anything to my team, since each individual person flames for ten others. what really saddens me is that weve sunk down to the point where darius and garen are considered op and get banned every game. quick tip everyone if you werent around for release darius just dont say anything regarding the state of darius right now. currently darius is in a really good place cuz on release he was 100 times stronger than he currently is and now he just got buffed back into a good place. garen pretty much didnt change they just tweaked some numbers and made him viable late game. skarner, morde, and shyv though, they actually are overpowered right now so go ahead and scream op as loud as you can to see if they get nerfed. also plz nerf lee sin.

A couple times I got reported for failing to communicate, even though I used every chat restrict message as soon as possible. "Wow, you actually acknowledged I exist as your teammate instead of just ignoring me", I remember specifically. You don't need to use chat in this game. At all. No one has ever been punished for refusing to communicate. Just forget expecting anything from your teammates.

I actually like it when people just pick based on draft order.

Chat generally devolves into whining, complaining, insulting other or just spamming when people either don't understand the game or aren't actually interested in playing it.

Maybe ranked needs a little more communication, but I don't chat in norms if I don't need to.

What would I say to an AD Azir support? Nothing positive.

True, you don't NEED to talk. But why shoot yourself in the foot? Why take the perfectly good advantage of communicating with your teammates and just toss it in the trash bin? It's just like upgrading your trinket, it drastically increases your chances of winning. So why WOULDN'T you?

Statistically, people who communicate more/smarter win more games. It's been proven time and time again. Yes, there are people out there who love nothing more than to flame their teammates until they resemble a charbroiled burger. But we have a mute button for that, right? Besides, not everyone flames, and often times the flaming starts after Champion Select.

Ranked is a place where you want to win. If you can do something to improve the chances of winning and becoming a better player, might as well do it, right?

i disagree it drastically increases your chances at winning, that only happens on Team ques.

Solo Q is a different matter, not talking drastically increases your chances of not tilting or ragequitting.

Soraka Jungle

CAN WORK.

It's just very risky, very difficult in the early game, and the reward is just not worth the risk. Drive-by healing (or using your passive as a gap-closer to throw bananas at a low health enemy) is funny tho.

Would not do in rank, though. Before the jungle changes and Soraka's rework, it was cool tho.

No I got it, I'm just triggered by Soraka jungle. :c

Communication is very important, and people just aren't doing it when they should. I understand OP's message completely. He can deal with that kind of stuff.

I never talk in chat.

Why? Because the more i make my team believe i don't actually speak english the better. That way they think they can't flame me.

Never a good sign when you have mutes in champ select. Actually pretty sad.

Hey now, seeing Sona in champ select isn't always bad.

theres all sorts of resons a person might not talk. Personally i find typing to be not worth the time spent (which can be a small loss in cs). I might ping things occassionally liek dragon or whatever because we can obviously take it and my team is ignoring the fact, but generally people are both stubborn and stupid and theres really no point in communicating with them.

meh you had people that were not trolling but were there to do the game. These type of people tend to be generalist and count on be over all better than everyone else. Nothing is OP, a bad lane, pre determined. They will carry from any lane cause that is the job on a real ranked player.

You had a good group to play with. You are just to blind to see it cause you want to talk.

Maybe they didn't have any ban requests.

Your chat was a little overbearing. If I see a "hello" then I'll greet ya back. But spamming in chat without any provocation? That's just a bad prognosticator.
