Why is Nautilus Top So Popular?

I honestly don't understand. I know he has a lot of crowd control, but under that logic, why isn't Gnar as popular, who has even more crowd control that nautilus? Nautilus

because nautilus has a very very strong early game and makes him hard to deal with because of innate tankiness.

Nautilus is a beefy, high-CC tank with good damage and a strong laning phase against many match-ups.

In addition, we are seeing ADCs played mid and/or jungle rather commonly. Nautilus provides enough CC that he can make up his allies lacking it and he provides strong peel, initiation and a front-line for his squishy carries.

Gnar has issues with some of the current top-lane match-ups (i.e. Fiora, previously Pantheon) and his CC is significantly more telegraphed (and restricted to certain times).

Because Gnar is harder to pull off? Even for pros.

Gnar has no CC really outside the slow from his Q unless he's in mega form for the stun which is probably the hardest to pull off correctly, and especially to land a good wall stun on multiple people. Also, tanks believe it or not are the thing right now in top lane. Gnar isn't a good dependable tank because of that rage mechanic.

Too bad we gotta deal with the rage mechanic. I love Gnar, and all, I think while the mechanic is awesome, I'd still prefer to be able to switch between forms whenever like the other champions can. Just implement him his own special little button or something.

Personally, I like his auto attack animation, it's pretty slick compared to other tank champs

Because cinderhulk is bad, with the exception of 3 champions. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
