Can supports get an S without depending on K/D/A?

I dont want to get an S with a support because i'd have to KS my adc or team, they need those kills, the support role is not dependent on KDA. but whatever downvote i dont care, just voicing for the minority that want to get an S without needing KDA

Yeah it's pretty difficult to get S on support compared to something like top. Best way to do it is in normals, and simply being careful not to die alot. I was able to get an S on nami with a 1/1/18 score, while a 1/5/23 only got me an A. Bottom line is that you have to play an extremely low death game when going for S on support.

Very true. My friends kept asking me how I got S- and S+ on Soraka with a KDA of something like 0/1/14 while they go some crazy positive score and get an A+. Just gotta hide and heal fam

Low deaths, high assists, high overall kill participation (can be tricky if your top laner gets fed early and goes on a rampage by himself), lots of wards, and a decent amount of damage dealt (get those autos in as often as you can!).

Not exactly.... because people would just go "support" to get that lvl 6-7 mastery they need.

so?

It means Riot won't go for it. If they added a ward check per minute, stacks of support item used, and builds. That might work a bit better than what you have proposed.

The biggest problem for supports is CS. They don't get any and CS is key to getting an S in many cases.

Er, you just need high kill participation. Don't KS, you don't use kills. You get an S rank if your team has 30 kills and you have 26 assists or something like that

isn't champion mastery, based on the champion your playing? if 1/1/18 was in the upper levels for champ X at y time. that would more likely score an S rank, compared to someone normally played in a different role.

That's really wouldn't achieve the effect Riot is looking for. Partially since Wards are not your champion. Using such a system would likely give an S rank to anyone who uses Wards. Also, it wouldn't measure the quality of ward placement, it would simply be a matter of machine gunning wards.

Everything said, I think the best thing to do for supports, is to make sure every reasonable exploit, (whether it was a champion ability or an item) granted the Support an assist.

I think it goes off of your KD average, not specifically your kda. What I mean:

If you have 13/4/3 (your K/D/A), your KD average would be 4:1

If you have 0/4/16 (your K/D/A), your KD average would be 4:1

I have had games where I have gone 24/2/2 and not gotten S- and I think its because my overall participation was under 50%. I participated in 26 kills out of like 70 (that game was a blood bath, particularly in bot lane early). Thats only a 37% (ish) participation. Our support got an S. she was 3/1/45 a 69% (ish) participation.

If anything, what is holding back supports is the fact that FARM is a part of the equation. They are not supposed to farm unless no one is around to give it to.
