Trying to get an S with Lux; but im still a newbie! Any tips to fix my mistakes?

SO I'm wondering how the easiest/best way to go about this would be. When I started playing league, I played strictly bot games(i'm not good at video games, so i was scared of pvp and didnt want to try. Plus i was not a serious player. I only played with friends once in a while). I played like that all the way to level 30(so about a year of playing), just doing beginner bot games.

About 6 months ago, I decided to get serious and start playing pvp and attempting to get mastery 7's for all of my mains. Starting with Lux. However, after 6 months, I have not managed to obtain an S rank for her at all and am stuck at mastery 5.

A few friends say it's because i fooled around up until level 30 so im being pitted against more experienced players, while still technically being a newbie.

SO if that's the case, is there a way I can correct that mistake, or pick up the slack some other way. And also, is there a way to practice without getting flamed constantly? I'm not sure what to do as a support OR mid entirely, and im not sure on how to build on my own yet. And when I go into game, it's disheartening to see people insult me while im attempting to learn

Does anyone have any advice on this? As well as farming! I've found that im horrible at farming in midlane!

The answer to a Lux S is easiest explained in a few steps:

  1. Land your Q's (most important thing about being a succesful Lux Player. If you can land a Q you can land all her other abilities.)
  2. Farm isn't everything Lux is a murderer by nature. (She is meant to kill things, she might look like sparkles and rainbows but she is possibly one of the most lethal players in the game with her extended use of ranged and skill shots.)
  3. If you play Lux, play her mid. (If an S is what you want, play Lux mid. She can punish the map if you play her right, learn how to roam out of lane and when it's appropriate. If your mid opponent is missing, push your lane, then either follow them where they go or roam bot. The best thing you can do is roam bot lane. Two kills are always better than one unless you see a key moment to get a possible double top when their Jungle is lurking there. Always know where their jungler is. If you can come in at a key moment, land a Q & follow up with a devestating E + R combo. Boom you just changed the tide.)
  4. Learn the combo Q landed into an instant E Ult then E execute. Just cuz you throw that E out that doesn't mean you have to pop it. That key moment when your Q hits is best to hit that Ult as much as possible.

Now do your best, no one can judge you for trying. Good luck.

Learn to last hit. If you can't kill minions, nothing else matters.

You're kidding right? That range and CC is just plain braindead toxic.

Aw, I'm sorry if anyone's insulted you while trying to learn :(. I personally don't ever mid. I don't have the confidence in a lot of matchups, and while I believe my CSing ability is generally fine, I tend to focus too much on either poking and not CSing, or CSing and not poking, which in the long run accumulates to very mediocre CS.

Because getting a rank S is based on multiple things (goes partially off CS if you mid), I feel like it's definitely easier to get an S as support as long as you're doing a few key things.

As Lux support, your main goal in lane will be to poke the enemy (though you'll want to manage your mana fairly well). You'll want to pick up item 3303 as your first item so you have gold income + a way to obtain sightstone, and swap to an oracles trinket after you have the sightstone. You want to have excellent vision control, and a high amount of participation for different things including kills and objectives. Last but not least, don't die a lot. Positioning is very important when it comes to being a squishy mage. There's not much more I can tell you aside from that when it comes to supporting. Just make a conscious effort to ward / clear wards, and to be with your team when pushing / fights break out. Usually having high participation + high vision score seems to give me higher scores.

Just don't push yourself too hard, and remember what the main goal of the game is; have fun. It's no fun to play if you're stressing over something like a letter grade, and obtaining it won't actually make the game any more fun than it already is.
