a few different kind of low elo mistakes i see all the time

these are not in a specific order. not the best english incoming you have been warned. most of them i saw in vids, streams or in my own games on my lower elo smurf.

  1. (starting with one thats somewhat rare) not knowing if armor or magic pen. this mainly happened in urf but it also happens in SR. ppl play ap tryndamere or ad corki and they go voidstaff or last whisper. tryn does 100% physical damage, he has no magic damage in his entire kit. even if you go full ap, your e still does physical damage. magic pen has no impact. same for corki just the other way around. 90% of your kit does magic damage even your autoattacks do 80% magic damage. thus a void staff does way more for you.

  2. not knowing about "unique" passives. ezreal with item 3078 item 3025 (spellblade passive) some adc with item 3156 item 3046 (lifeline passive) both of this sets share their UNIQUE passive. the game will automatically take the stronger effect. but you wont deal 200% bonus damage and slow. and you wont get 2 shields.

  3. not reading your champ spells. im gonna take my fave example that actually happened. 152k mastery mf "what my q can crit?" read your spells.

  4. not knowing "special" interactions with your main. almost 400k mastery zac, teammate tp's on one of his passive blops, zac goes "afk" and then asks in chat what just happened he thought he is dead anyways. yuumi refusing to w on twitch because "it gives twitchs position away" (it doesnt, yuumi also gets invis/stealth)

  5. mobafire/op.gg/whatever is not 100% correct. just because the highest winrate build on XY is to rush armor item XX first, doesnt mean thats the right thing to do when the enemys have 4 ap champs and their ad champ is 0/7. (you might thing this is obvious but you have no idea lol)

  6. not checking special item/spell interactions. item 3147 if you see duskblade above your spells this means the enemys dont see you. if you stand in a bush and the buff disappears, that means the bush is warded. you dont need to sit in that bush for 30 seconds waiting to make a big play.

  7. not knowing cooldowns. i get it the game has over 150 champs and knowing the cooldown of all spells is insane. but at least know the cooldown of the champs that are most played in your elo. zoe e has a high cooldown and she just wasted it, you dont need to ping your jungler back and go "she will make you asleep under tower"

  8. this is a very specific one but i still feel like mentioning it. knowing when to buy item 3072 vs item 3812 blood thirster heals for 20% of your AUTOATTACKS damage. if you are a champ that autoattacks many times, you get BT. deaths dance heals for 15% of your damage dealt (this includes spells). if you are aatrox, deaths dance does way more for you as you deal insane damage with your q and thus also heal crazy damage.

8.2 is it an autoattack or a spell?

i see so many dravens go DD because "my q is a spell" well that is correct, but its a spell that makes your AUTOATTACKS stronger. thus BT is the better option (not saying DD on draven is wrong btw) another good one is garen vs teemo top. no need to use your q as garen when teemo blinded you. your q is a stronger (and way slower) autoattack. you will miss him and waste your q. activate your e and use your q once the blind is over.

those are all the things that come to my mind right now. hope it helps. these are the more "in depth" things that i see low elo players do wrong.

<>< here have a fish.

Personal tip I use for number 7, categorize ALL spells under 1 of 2 categories.

  1. He's gonna use it again in the next 5 seconds

For example, Gangplank Q. Soraka Q. Annie Q. Not long cooldowns but also not spammable.

  1. IT'S DOWN LET'S RUSH THIS FUCKER

For example, Fizz E. He used his poll? Time to break his knees.

Just tag onto your first point:

Looking at what the enemy team is building. What kind of damage they have.

I had a game last night where me and some friends were playing, and they played a double AP bot lane (malph/Malz), and we had an AP mid AND top laner. Not a single MR item was built until third item on any of the enemy. There were deadman's, Knights vows, etc. etc. all around. But no SV or Adaptive until almost 30 minutes in.

it was very frustrating to see even as we stomped them.

i can add more , now that i am silver and i climbed from iron .

no resets no trades no fights for level 2 powerspike no map awareness no objectives no closing out games when there is a good opportunity fighting under huge enemy minion waves no damage calculation no level calculation

Falling on deaf ears sadly. The people who typically should be looking at this stuff don't do research and they certainly do not come to the forums. Also prolly should of titled this with an ADC connotation since since example you used involved ADC.

Very helpful, especially with number 5 because I tend to forget this a lot. I'm low elo so it makes sense. I do have a question for you, GA Ahri is really good right now. I prefer Electrocute on her because I feel like I'm not doing any damage with GA. I used to go AC on her but not anymore since I don't see anyone else do it. OP.gg/champion.gg/etc suggest GA because it's overall better. Should I stick with GA because overall it IS better, or should I stick with what I'm comfortable with like Electrocute? (Also if you look up my stats my Ahri games lately are horrible with the low amount of damage/cs.)

Duskblade is no longer a Vision denial tool.

Umbral Glaive (item 3179) is the vision denial item.

maw/Steraks/PD is not necessarily poor itemization. They all have different conditions to proc Lifeline. When Lifeline procs for any one of them, they will all go on CD, BUT all of the different various secondary effects will also proc. One is wearing Steraks and PD, and if PD procs, not only does get the stronger shield (probably Steraks), but also Tenacity, etc

that's not low elo mistake is just poor knowledge of the games

Ignoring the benefits of an early item 3076 /item 3123 against sustain/heal comps or lanes. Still going full damage Top/Jungle on Brawlers even when horrifically behind. Not warding. Using knockback skills at stupid times. TPing to minions right next to the laner that just killed them when said enemy laner is still at full/almost full HP. Going for Baron when they could end the game outright. Calling for Baron when the only survivors on their team are low sustained damage champs (like a tank jung, a burst mage and their support).

Players should also know some special interactions even of other champions than their mains, in case of facing them...

Sometimes I build Wit's End on Corki instead of Void Staff. Usually when the enemy team has a lot of magic damage or I'm looking for a boost to my attack speed. (Every now and then I'll build an on-hit Corki too, but that's weird and gimmicky; I only do that for fun.)

I really liked your list. I'm personally just a casual player, but I regularly check all of those details if I'm not sure. (For instance, I was playing MF in URF, and checked her kit to see how it interacted with Crits so I could choose between crit or lethality build - needless to say, I built crit.) So I basically agree with you; yeah, these are all things you should be conscious of, or at least trying to be conscious of. And I wasn't aware of Duskblade's passive information superpowers - thanks for the tip. Overall... Good list.
