All tanks have a defensive steroid of some form.

All tanks (that are relevant) have AOE CC.

Excluding the most extreme of Vanguards, Wardens have amazing utility for defending teammates.

I see nothing wrong with Galio if this is all they will say about him.

You do realize Galio has the best waveclear out of all the tanks right It's not about having waveclear, it's about how good it is, how risky is it, how much does it cost, how much can it be spammed, etc.

Having good waveclear is one thing that is COMPLETELY normal

Having SS+ Tier waveclear is something else entirely

A single Q with 30 Ap shouldn't be clearing the backline on its own

Not being able to stack dorans wont change that he clears with little to no ap

You know the reason why it does though, right? His Q is essentially a three part ability, which is why it hurts so much. Each wing beat makes its own projectile, and the two fuse at the last possible second rather than earliest. A full hit does base damage x2 + the tornado.
