What is the strategic value of "no ban"?

I get why we have duplicate bans, it makes sense since they can overlap between teams, but it just seems wasteful for no ban to be an option

Some people just dont want to ban anyone. My friend for instance, he likes the challenge of facing an op champ.

There is no strategic value. Trolls have control over the banning phase. This creates unneeded tension because the entire team has to deal with an overpowered champ that could have been banned.

Because if you do not want to ban a champion, you do not have to. You do have to choose an option to stay in the lobby still though, so they have a no ban option.

Its similar to the random option that was/is available in blind pick. Some just do not care who they play against or as, so they dont ban anyone.

It seems norms-oriented to me. I always select no ban in normal draft. Sure, Yasuo may be literal cancer that I'd rather not have in any of my ranked games, but I'm not going to improve as a player if I don't learn how to fight him in an environment where I lose literally nothing for having a bad game.

Horrible ban system.

Might be a way to lure a pick for the enemy that you can easily beat.
