id like to apologize first and foremost for posting in the wrong place before, ill be deleting that post shortly. i also revised and corrected a few weird phrasings

I am making the argument that Nocturne not only exists far outside of the current meta but is one of the least impactful champs when behind and even. i will try to keep my points direct without congestion, and i will only respond to those who share the same goal, being to aid, not to ridicule, nor to speculate solutions for what i consider to be his problems, as i am only claiming these are problems with his kit. i am solely speaking of his current state in the current meta using both my opinion and my observations.

  1. Having a weak teamfight is a common vice for early duelists/hard ganking champs. to imply noc has any impact on teamfight's whatsoever outside of a heat-seeking missile is more than generous. he can scale to be a one-shot monster late game, but lane ganking stops much sooner than that, and that

  2. while the "For Demacia" story allowed for us to see a world post-retcon with nocturne in it, i would hate to imagine that would indefinitely suffice for his current state. the lore regarding summoners has been vanquished, leaving nocturnes existence and current purpose in the universe to be quite the enigma. i am a huge fan of the art of storytelling, and for a character to be scary, they not only must have power in their surroundings but also something driving them forwards. nocturnes current lore is pretty grey and outdated.

  3. many things have to be taken into account before you can confidently pick nocturne in your ranked games. i understand that only a few champions get to have their place in the meta at once. unfortunately for noc, his kit lacks the depth/reliability to compete vs almost any balanced team composition and his only consistent strength is easily countered by coordination.

  4. as a melee carry jungler, there is a significant weakness to having a spellshield vs other self-defense tools. Sivir 's ranged auto attacks allow her time to pop her shield reactively. this is not the case for noc, as travel time is much less relevant in comparison after he has closed the distance. there's also its effectiveness as a spell on the kit of a jungler, as most can use their entire kit to get effective clears. (though it does provide added safety from picks, this is nice)

  5. Nocturne doesn't reward mastery. His kit feels lacking in depth and the ulti is one of the very few abusable strengths available to him. his item synergy is okay, not Skarner levels of bad, but still pretty underwhelming. all of this means that likelihood of him receiving buffs/nerfs is low, despite how fuzzy his build-path is. his history backs this up. while i love this champ, i do want him to be fair to play as and against as well.

  6. his passive becomes increasingly less effective as the game goes on. it is balanced around the ability to hit seemingly unlimited targets. this is obviously a problem, but the means in which it helps in his early clear makes its place understandable, i suppose. however, most of the time he is full health, and the healing is meaningless in terms of combat effectiveness. the more enemies you surround yourself with, the less likely you are to survive long enough to assassinate your target

i hope i was clear in how i addressed what i saw as issues. if you have any speculation or disagreements, please feel free to express them
