AS Fizz is too strong. But why not nerf it instead of removing it completely?

Wall of text post here, TL;DR at the bottom of the post.

I'm sure many of you know by now, but in case you done, here is the link to the notes concerning the PBE update in which Riot killed AS Fizz. They're changing his W back to the passive DOT it used to be (albeit better than it was) and even buffing his AP scaling on his Q to closer what it used to be. (Edit: The Q change was actually reverted a few days later, as a commenter pointed out) AS Fizz will no longer viable while AP will likely come back into the meta (or at least be a little better). As an on-again-off-again Fizz player who's played him for a while now, I'm a huge fan of the AS build path but I do still miss the AP build path. Both are fun and I'll play Fizz occasionally no matter what's viable, but I think it'd be really cool to have both forms of the fish we all love (or hate).

Now I know a lot of people hate AS Fizz, and I can see why considering he can build himself to be invincible while still making your health bar disappear, but why do we have to get rid of the attackspeed option all together?

Instead of killing the build path completely, why not nerf it to a better spot while still giving the AP build path the buff it needs to be worth it again? The complaints I usually see is that he does a boatload of damage of all types, so it's really hard to itemize against. What if the damage on his W active was changed to physical damage instead of magic damage and maybe lowered a few percent. That way tanks can build Randuin's and/or Frozen Heart to combat Fizz and squishies won't be going OHMYGODWHERE'SMYHP? whenever Fizz so much as touches them.

TL;DR Why not nerf AS Fizz to a better place (physical damage on W active instead of magic damage for better counter-itemization) but buff AP Fizz so we can have both?

Strategic diversity anyone?

Honestly, I think AD/AS Fizz will still be reasonably strong after the nerf. He will have slightly less burst, but he's still dealing a ton of all types of damage (with red smite). I enjoy playing him, but it was fairly dumb when 60% + of my damage was magic when I had no magic items.

(Its also really satisfying when they burn flash to get away and are killed by the DOT anyway. Almost worth loses the upfront damage)

I'm someone who still plays AP Fizz, and I'm happy about the changes. First, they aren't buffing his Q, they reverted it back to 0.3 a few days after they buffed it. Second, now AD Fizz will be AD and not AS. No problem there.

Thanks for pointing out the Q buff reversion, which I remember now that you mention it but I guess it slipped my mind when I wrote this.

I kind of like the coming changes too, AP Fizz will be pretty much just like it was before (which is great) but I'm still gonna miss AS Fizz.
