Annie - WoTA

I'd like a reasonable and thoughtful answer to my question in regards to Annie building item 3152

Everytime I get Will of the Ancients as first item on Annie, either one or two from my teammates or the enemy team will likely give me that ''QuestionMark'' or ''Why??????????'' response. It's kind of sickening for me to keep getting these responses because I actually find Will very useful for Annie because of its synergy with free farming with Disintegrate that gets me to full health easily. In combination with tankier/AP items like item 3116 item 3027 item 3157 and even item 3001 against AP opponents, heck I can just stay as long as I want to in lane and keep farming until I get said items.

I know that I'm not the only one seeing this method/build pattern, but I just can't get a logical reason as to why people keep questioning this build?

I also get the same with Katarina and I'm not entirely sure if both item 3152 and item 3146 stack together but I also find it quite effective, but probably WotA for Kat is not advisable although it's a manaless item.

It's much better to be either going Ludens/Rylais/ROA because she scales well with the tank stats. WotA obviously can work, but you are missing out on a lot better stats/delaying better stats for unneeded sustain in lane. Just get the mastery that returns hp on minion kills and sustain that way, you really don't need much other than that unless you are taking a lot of unnecessary poke.

Basically, you are losing/delaying better stats so that you have unneeded sustain, which doesn't make a lot of sense. If it fits your playstyle, go ahead, but I suggest trying more meta starts to see if it works better :3

This build for me is more of a side dish rather than the main course. This is one of those experimental/fun build for me. Of course getting WoTA as first item would delay the passive that I would get for RoA if I am to build it the 2nd. Some people are just so close-minded that they don't take into consideration that people like to experiment. After all I'm doing this on normals and not ranked so I'm not really ruining people's game and for a fact in most cases, I actually win games with this build and then eventually they stop questioning it.

It is just that it sucks to be questioned so early. People are so judgmental which is the problem that I was trying to address.

I agree, but it's a slippery slope you are on. The "It's just normals" argument gets abused to the point where people think it's ok to throw games or ruin games for teammates, as though players who play normals don't want to win. Things like building WotA on Annie is only slightly off meta and really isn't worth people to judge you early on, but when you see an ap caitlyn going 0/11 saying "calm down it's just normals" then it's gone too far. You aren't necessarily wrong here, but it's good to understand your teammate's point of view

Yes, thank you for pointing that ''it's just normals'' statement. I respect everyone's perspective on things and for sure for every match, whatever the game mode, winning is one of the achievements even if it's not everyone's goal. I of course also tried it first on Co-op vs AI numerous times before I jumped into normals just to be more sure if I really want to build it or not.

I appreciate it dude, meanwhile carry on with your fun builds. If it's fun and works for your team (looking at all the trolls reading this post right now) then keep doing it, people are always going to be afraid of change and off-meta builds/picks. People need to realize that the Meta is more of a guideline, and there are exceptions/alternatives for every meta

And I'm also more into getting all of damage type masteries like Double Edge although it's quite ironic seeing I want the sustain but I'm also hurting myself for taking this mastery. But actually since i'm gonna take even more damage from this, the spellvamp from WoTA just fits the bill for me in this scenario.

Will is good against Poke, since after you take the poke, you can just use your abilities to heal. If you take it against an all-in, like ZedZed , then I can see the question marks. Will and Hextech do stack, since the "spell vamp" of Will actually isn't spell vamp.

The only other problem I can see with Will is mana problems. I mean if you aren't having mana problems with the build, then all the more power to you.

I rarely get into mana problems with this build for Annie, but yeah this build would be a problem if I'm playing against Zed and the likes of him. Then in that case I would probably switch back to the ''norm'' build.

The problem is WotA has just been nerfed too much. The only reason it's good on Vlad is because it negates his E cost and his E and Spirit Visage increase the amount of healing from WotA.

If I remember correctly, This season, the price was lowered while most, if not all, stats remained the same. Considering the cost, which is like 2300 (i think), it is a very easy pickup, and still a pretty good one.

Also, It doesn't just negate Vlad's E cost, It also gives him quite a bit more sustain and more survivability due to the instant heal as compared to the missile heal of his Q (it's not much more than normal, but i have been saved by it before).
