He's pretty much spot on. But Divers serve a really unique and incredibly needed niche. Because for as problematic as they are, late game immobile powerhouses that shred your team if you dont kill them (think Kog, Cass) lose their biggest threat aside from something that can outrange them.

In short, it's Irelia Syndrome: a necessary evil because the contrary to her existence would make ranged top laners unbeatable.

"they often end up as mobile juggernauts"

thanks god this dude became clever for once.

But that's because juggernauts aren't enough tanky to compensate their lack of mobility

Divers are very item dependent as while they are technically mobile, Xin, Panth, Irelia, and others really only have one direction: forward. Their main weakness is basically a gear check. If they have enough defense to survive a dive, they will do their job with impunity. Else, they either cannot do their job or require significant amounts of help.

Perhaps GC can take a page from WoW: an item that provides a decent amount of defense that is really only useful for melee, but has the Purgatory passive that prevents you from dying for a short period of time, and you survive if you get a kill, not just an assist.

You'd have to incentivize building with fragility though so bruisers don't get it.

Another alternative would be to put high amounts of scaling into Diver spells with low base damage but also some high cooldown CC so that if they don't get fed with damage, they can go tank cdr and be a poor man's initiator.

Just some food for thought.
