A suggestion for matchmaking
Hi Riot, and all.
I think an improvement to queue, especially low-ELO queue, would be to autofill positions with the lowest ELO on the team. I main as a top and can kind of play mid or jungle, but when I get stuck in a supp role with someone in Bronze it's often times me literally telling them how to CS and how to control the lane, not to go into river to chase the crab while the enemy wave is pushing. Most of the time they tell me to fuck off because I'm typing too much, so I just have to sort of sit there and watch them give the lane to the enemy team while they make really bad plays. It's very hard to have fun when someone who really doesn't have the practice or experience to play ADC is also the person you have to support. If someone's rank is a measure of how well they have mastered the game, it makes more sense for the autofilled position to be given to the lowest rank on the team.
There are enough issues in low-ELO with afks, quitters, smurfs, and people who decide to try completely new roles/champs without even really test-driving those champs in practice mode. I'm not saying supports are useless or the position should always go to the less-skilled player, but autofilling higher ELO into the support role (I had a Bronze 2 and I'm Silver 5, he only plays top and mid based on his match history) can be really devastating to the team and really not fun to play with. Especially in a meta that really needs an ADC.
Maybe there's a drawback I'm not seeing to this proposal but I think it would be better. The last twenty games I've been filled into secondary or autofilled a few times and that's fine if I am supporting someone who knows what they're doing... but it's really hard to carry as a support if I end up with someone who has never played adc before.
