Should support have more direct influence on fights?

So, everyone knows that support isn't the most desired role and past the lane phase supports have nearly 0 chance of soloing anyone. Should supports get more damage or something similar to make it a more desirable role to play? I pretty much main support at this point because no one else will and I can see why. You can ward all you want but it isn't going to make your abilities kill anyone without someone else helping you. If one teammate feeds you just aren't going to carry a game. It's even worse if it's your ADC that feeds because it means you essentially have 2 bags of gold for the enemy team in a lane instead of one.

Giving support more damage would lead to the Lulu-issue where they're suddenly not play as a support anymore.

I feel like there are may impactful supports, be it Trash, Blitz, Braum, Janna or Soraka. Note that I am talking from a carries perspective, I love the new Soraka though.

I however feel like Taric could use a boost. He once was so great... (Sona dies to fast* Nami's CC is too easy to dodge, Zyra has a too low duration on her E considering it's horribly slow speed an cooldown)

They already do have a direct influence on fights.

? How is support not a desireable role? Supports have tons of influence in a fight. Stuns, hooks, poke, sustain. Often times supports are the ones making massive plays in fights. Why would a support run around the map looking to "solo" someone? Good supports roam and create plays/pressure whenever they can. Traditional supports deal damage just fine, people often times don't itemize for it. Instead choosing to buy utility/defensive items to benefit the team in that area.

Because( for me) it means getting trapped on a champion that cannot deal any damage, I am not very good at landing skillshot cc, and getting stuck with ADC's who don't understand the "not dying" concept.

However, I do not feel that supports have no impact on the game. Far from it.

And for the OP, many supports have decent scalings, but can you afford that rabadons on a supports gold income?

if someone feeds he is certainly not a bag of gold. Just a little sack of pennies.

Idea of support being able to commonly solo someone is ridiculous. He is Support not Carry.

Plus there are some supports who actually can burst down squishy targets (adc, apc, supp plus other roles with squishy champs.) for example Annie, Zyra and Velkoz (who is able to kite even tankier targets thanks to his slows). And then you can play classic mid APCs as supports: Ahri, Xearth, Viktor, Lissandra, Nidalee and many more.

But if youd wanted for example Nami to be able to solo some one, do you really think that she would ever picked as support?

i need to tell that you are retarded, annie, velkoz and zyra are apc not support, they are not used often as mid laners due powercreep (fizz, zed, yasuo) issues.

Seems like we have diferent opinions.

Does not mean that you have to insult me.

Yes Annie, Zyra and Velkoz where designed for mid, does not mean that they are played there. They are more succesfull in botlane as supports, therefore I count them as such.

I've played as Annie Support, against Zyra Support, and watched Velkoz Support (played by youtuber Sp4zie). They seem viable to me and can later become very powerful once they get a few items. I've seen a support Zyra outdamage her team's APC due to the AOE damage she can throwdown. Annie's stuns and burst damage are unforgiving. Velkoz puts a lot of pressure on the enemy team allowing your ADC to farm in peace and his true damage hurts in team fights when he ults. Sure they can usually do more damage as mid champs, but they can still make great supports. I usually go Thresh though because I like to be a tank who peels and CC's for days. Plus he looks amazing.

Supports do NOT need more damage, and they are hardly weak.

I can safely say that I've been the deciding factor of the victor in a team fight as a support on multiple occasions. From times I've hooked an important target with thresh, or landed a 5-man ult with Nami, or completely resetting an engagement with Janna, I've done it all.

And it is because of me that we won. I was an important contributing factor and that's a good feeling. Support is a fun role to play. And sure, it might not be perfect, but it's a damn good time when you're good at it.

Supports pretty much have more influence on the game than a top does, so I don't know what to tell you.

You don't have to 1v1 some one to carry a game.

As a Janna player, I would really like to be able to 1v1 that 10% HP Jax when I'm at full health and win.

Janna's a support, god forbid that she do any reasonable amount of damage so she can pose a minor threat to anyone when she's alone.
