A little rant on RNG

Now before I get started I want this clear, Crits are fine in this game. Crits are still a constant and are perfectly fine to have in the game because honestly it is the only thing making adcs viable in other seasons (I.e. last season... jinx.... oh god... THE HORROR)

But anyway, onward to the rant!

In gaming there are a few mechanics that games( in my opinion) should be careful of using. The Random Number Game could not be a better example. There are too many variables and luck-based outcomes that go on when it comes to RNG. It is the biggest reason why I tend to stay away from card games like Hearthstone because hue hue Ragnaros hue hue Sylvanis every game got a little.... redundant.

Now League of Legends does what I think is right with RNG mostly. They put RNG in a few places, mainly critical strikes, and honestly that makes a lot of sense. Champions aren't going to swing perfectly every time if at all but when they do my go is it going to hurt.

However there are certain instances where this is.. misused.

For example, Illaoi. I am sure most of you guys are tired of hearing (HOLY SHIT WHAT THE HELL IS THIS CHAMP'S W) again and again so I won't spend a lot of time on it. Having that punishing of an ability on a 12 second cool down is shit. Period. It is awful game design and there is no way in hell you are going to balance that stupid fucking ability. Like, my god, get rid of it or make it an ult with a cd of 2 min just... stop.

Other champions such Draven( yeah bet you didn't expect his name did ya!) and his passive are gamebreaking but in a different RNG way.

Is it just me or is it whenever a Draven is in the game it is basically a matter of when the enemy is going to mess up ONCE that this guy is going to win the entire game. Sure he isn't broken by any means but having an ability that capitalizes on 1 mistake by the other team is just... I really don't like that design. Perfect Games in league rarely happen if ever and usually if you never died you never helped your team or were playing Janna, so there isn't the "Just don't die" excuse. Dravens passive is worrysome for me because of shit like Illaois W. You really think Riot won't tweak that and put in on some AD assassin mid... REALLY! I just want the concept of champions capitalizing on whether or not you get a shit or good bot lane, hell, they don't even have to suck people make mistakes in life but usually those mistakes don't result in instantly getting fired and thrown off a building.

All in all I really hate RNG. I don't think it functions in any type of game particularly well and honestly should stick to Crits and Mystery Gifts. I expect this will fire some hate because "Dude, Draven isn't even that strong." I know he isn't that isn't what I am saying. I am saying that the mechanic of giving the player more gold than anyone else for a kill to snowball is stupid when you have little to no control over it. Champs like Riven and Fizz are different in that they actually are hard to steamroll... well Fizz is... Riven is hard to snowball with because of all the shit in her kit. Plus the fact that if you take her top you are facing shit like Nasus and Illaoi but meta doesn't matter tbh. What should matter is individual teamwork and cooperation, not "Oh Draven gets 1k gold for 2 kills" or "Illaoi is 0-3 yet pentakilled".

Happy Holidays guys and honestly just looking at this and reading it is all I care about. <3

I fail to follow how Illaoi has RNG in her kit. Except maybe in the case of figuring out which arbitrary part of the wall a tentacle will spawn at. Her W is a lung, followed by tentacles in range striking the same targeted area. How's that RNG?

Draven's passive isn't RNG either. It gives him bonus gold for scoring a kill. The only RNG part of Draven's kit, would be his Ax landing positions. However, those positions can be manipulated and used to either parties advantage. So it still boils down to mostly skill and wits.

I am talking about the randomness of how Draven just will randomly get fed because of that passive and then BAM one shots 4k hp mundo hue hue.

Except that's not random. Whether Draven get's a kill before he gets killed, is mostly a contest of skill. (unless you are building crit chance)

Unless your complaint is the skill level of your enemy and ally being a role of the dice. (Which granted is out of your control) But if that's your complaint, you probably wouldn't want to be playing Mobas in the first place.

my complaint is that Draven WILL get a kill if his team isn't retarded. The reward of giving someone MORE INCOME is a broken game mechanic and honestly in solo q especially is just stupid. There will never be a time where you can effectively count on you and your team to NEVER GIVE HIM 1 KILL EVER. Because the fact that a 1-5 Draven can 1v2 is one of the most annoying things in this game IMO.

To say someone will never give him a kill, suggests that your probably forgetting that he losses half of his aduration on death. If he dies a few times before getting a kill, his passive won't be worth anything.

Also Extra gold gen is only helpful, if your are yet to be full build. That is to say, it's only good for a mid game spike. But if your complaint is about Gold gen passives. You should be complaining about TF and Gangplank, who gold gen is way less conditional.

Nothing you listed is RNG.
