I was Diamond 5 and won 6 or 7 of my placement matches (I don't remember). I was dropped to Plat 3 because of the current elo compression .... elo compression is something that happens every single season we've had ranked (S2 and beyond). Not that it matters because Riot specifically told us we'd be dropped a few ranks regardless of how many wins we had in placements.

RogueWill1 votesYou were B3 last season lol...placement always place you lower that your previous ranking so you can "have fun" climbing back, is one of riot policies and always has been like that since the removal of the hard resets. You were to be placed on lower division if it were possible but you can't go lower than B5. Winning your 10 games will land you on the same rank you had before reset (assuming solo, due que affects this weirdly). Anything less than 10 wins will place you lower than your previous rank.
I won 6 games as well, got demoted a whole tier (from G5 to S5)

MartyMcPr1m31 votesI was so pissed when i saw i got dropped down. i don't like Ranked much i tend to get Trolls and ass hats on alot of my teams This is a TERRIBLE IDEA and really it makes me not want to play i mean if I cant place at my skill level and then be put with were you are least likely to have a team you can work well with instead of having to babysit what is the point of placement. They should just start every one at bv and then let you Climb your way up. This is just a dick move riot.

RogueWill1 votesYou always drop around a full tier during the placement so you can have fun climbing back again. That is how it works and that is what it always has been. So if last season you were silver or lower then you will always start somewhere in bronze (even if you win all 10 games you still will decay for 3 ranks or so).
Last season you were B2, I'm not surprised at all by this placements
