alright so this shaco in my last game was playing support. As he goes into a negative score like 0/5/1, people ask him why he's playing shaco for support and he's like shaco is only support and top, and he is building ap also.

I ask him why he's playing ap because I play shaco a lot and never build ap only ad I told him I think his boxes are only ap and he flames me for being stupid dumbfounded me

so the moral of this is shaco even ap

He has 3 ap abilities. His box does only 20% extra ap (basically nothing), his shiv does ap and Ad, and his ult does ap. First, don't take advice from people who are doing shaco support and dying that much. Second, he's actually only good in the jungle. You should still prioritize Ad on him, or I saw a hybrid once that was pretty good.

I've mained AP Shaco up to my 370k mastery points (probably another 200k b4 mastery system was put in the game)

Playing AP Shaco is a completly new experience, it takes alot more skill to play AP Shaco than AD Shaco, because you have to carefully plan your actions AND the actions of your enemies, every single of your abilities are useful, whereas half of AD Shaco's abilities are just useless (his ultimate deals 0 damage, his boxes are only useful to run away from a fight).

While playing AP Shaco, you're not just autoattacking your enemies to death, you actually HAVE to find ways to outplay your enemies by making up a strategy, instead of having the game babysit you with tons of passives such as Ekko's or Yasuo's passive. You make a mistake, and you're most likely dead unless you're already fed. That's what makes it so fun to play AP Shaco, even though it's not ''the best pick'' in most situations since, as i said, the game doesn't babysit your ass, it feels extremely rewarding when you outplay them, and people will recognize your skill (I've had so many people typing in all chat about how they got outplayed and how good i was at playing Shaco)

There's also a good chance that Shaco's going to get a rework/update soon, so learning how to play him in different ways could prove benificial if he becomes stronger than he already is.

shaco has heavy ap ratio if you're able to use them : his E : 100% his box : 180% ap (stackable !) his ult : 100% ap, he can be played ap , but you need to be smarter then the ennemy, to take care of pink wards and red trinkets ^^

Shiv has strong ap scaling, his boxes scale on ap, and his clone detonation damage scales on ap.

Ap shaco is a viable build but: (1) its much worse at split pushing (2) the damage falls off late game (3) it is extremely difficult to use your boxes or exploding clone to do damage late game, meaning your damage almost exclusively comes from your shiv (4) your sustain is bad.

ap/hybrid shaco gives you more early-mid game burst. Part of this is because of the nature of the items (ap jungle item is strong early) and part of this is because his shiv scales off of both ad and ap, so a gunblade will give your shiv more damage than any other item. For example, ap jungle item + sheen + gunblade gives you great burst in the early midgame. I usually prefer to go tiamat first item, but the early ganks are more deadly with an ap/hybrid build.
