As the title says...
In my opinion, 
is much more of a mid laner than a top laner; pretty much has no real counter in the top lane, which is not fair to real top laners.
While I do occasionally bring 
top lane (not often however; it is quite rare though); I've found that he has much more counters in top lane than Teemo, such as

, 
, etc.

Everyone is welcome to play any champion any role if you'd like. Sometimes I do not agree, as some champions have an unfair advantage against certain champions - as it can help you win, it wouldn't be fair to your teammates and your enemy team; I love playing a fair game honestly.
To each their own though. :)

there is no counterplay to his shrooms anymore. he can sit in a nest of shrooms throughout the entire lane phase. if youre melee, youll never be able to make a play on him.
even if you know where his shrooms are, it doesnt help. he can just run through them in a staight line, while youre... what are you supposed to do exactly? catch up by running zig zag through a mine field?
his play rate also shot up since then. so its actually a good ban right now.

Reason he is played top is to abuse champions with bad matchups but if he cant destroy your late game your team has an advantage unless yall derping thru jungle and shroomed lanes. In mid he is the one with many bad matchups which is why he is not played there frequently and he also looses the advantage of being able to shroom the gank paths that he has in top.

its not like any other lane. i get counter picked by a darius, i can freeze the lane at my turret, stack resistances and farm safely to keep up in cs and xp until i can deal with him. he cant touch me under my turret without taking shots himself.
i dont get constanly poked and denied cs by blinds while he throws in some shots at my turet aswell.
when darius overextends, hes also gonna be gankable and doesnt wall off every possible path with shrooms, so my jungler is at half health before hes even in lane.
when daris loses lane, hes still not going to be constantly sitting top being a splitpushing menace.
teemo is a special breed of stupid to face.

are usefull. If there is a teemo, don't run into a jungle you lacked vision or your just asking to get smacked by shrooms, if your in your minion wave your asking to pop a shroom, or if you don't follow the ground cleared by a minion wave. Teemo can split well, but he is not the worst offender.

- If dari is your counter, he should be freezing lane
who is going to freeze lane depends on who manages to establish the freeze. if i can bait darius into 1 q, even if it hits me, he will push lane.
- Shrooms, If you don't step on them then they don't matter
and thats where youre wrong.
theyre
a) a zoning/kiting tool that prevents you from making a play on him. knowing where the shrooms are doesnt mean youre going to be able to engage on him and catch him out. ever.
he can kite away from you in a straight line while youd have to chase him by maneuvering around the shrooms. who do you think is going to be faster?
this means he can poke you from behind a safety net that you cant circumvent.
b) theyre a tool to waveclear, theyre tool to block off all jungle entrances to the lane allowing him even to overextend without having to be afraid against a lot of junglers.
Kai Guy1 votesI really feel that any hard counter who gets momentum is frustrating especially when they prevent you from being relevant, most of the time they do this by preventing you from getting any cs. I very much don't feel that teemo or darius is any special exception to this. I kinda want to go off on how darius should be using his mechanics to snowball a bad matchup but its just grounds for further debate and frankly if you don't agree with me on frustration from snowballed hard counters its just gonna be a waste of both our time for no real benefit to anyone. Please let me know if you agree or not.
Your correct point A and a good part of B. I am guilty of gross exaggerating to make point. My bad there, let me try to be a bit more clear. Its still a tool in his kit with uses even when your not actively triggering them, Your right on this point. Yet lots of the irritation I see from people dealing with his R is their own fault and they neglect to take the right steps to prevent it. Do we agree on this?

I think riot comfirmed he was going to get a rework, theyre probably going to add counterplay to his kit since its almost universally accepted that his counterplay just isnt there
I Ward A Lot1 votesTeemo can play any position and build any item (that is usable for ranged champs at least). This is because the entire purpose of teemo is to cause chaos. Shaco shares this quality and the reason why he isn't played top, adc, supp, or mid generally is simply because he is not ranged. That's it. Well that and the blind.
