is it fair that counterpicking means so much?

i picked talon mid thinking i was going to go against a normal mid laner

then apparantly im against some genius who knows that renekton dumpsters talon so he goes renekton mid. and lets just say renekton with a rotation of his combo that includes a stun and no skillshots thats on like a 10 second cooldown basically did 90% of my health in damage when he was level 3-4 with not a single item

so pretty much... is talon just piss weak or is counterpicks just way too big of a deal in this game?

If you think counterpicking is too strong in LoL, you've clearly never played Dota.

Counter picking will exist so long as champions have favourable matchups against one another.

They can be played around with some skill however.

Certain counterpicks are a big deal. In general, it isn't too bad, as most champions can offer something to a fight even if they are behind, but Talon only offers melee range damage. Not really all that useful. It is one of the problems with champions like Talon. It is not good design.
