Why Veigar Is (Or Isn't) Terrible.

I recently played a good game as Lucian against an Ashe and Veigar support bot lane. I got really fed in the first ten to fifteen minutes, but that meant nothing. Veigar could one-shot me with his ult from eleven minutes on. [zombie-brand-mindblown] I'm not posting this as a formal complaint to Riot, as the problem was definitely avoidable, and I should have just built life-steal, etc. Really, I want to make this a discussion about Veigar and the unhealthy (or healthy, depending on your opinion) spot he's in. Please offer your input, and if any Rioters wish to speak on the issue, I'd love to hear it.

Veigar is in a weird spot for his ultimate has a twin called Syndras R. Syndra offers more for the team and is a safer pick. So the problem is.

"why play veigar when you can play syndra?"

There is no way veigar can oneshot you with his ult at any point in the game.

It sort of sounds like he was baiting you to dash into his E and dropping his whole combo on you.

Veigar one shotting people with his ultimate is legitmately the only reason he is a good champion.

Veigar's ultimate is an execute. If you use it on someone at full health it will do shitty damage.

not if he has 1500 ap because he just passive farms, then the "execute" becomes a "execute at full health"

i legit was full health against a veigar, i guess he was just passive farming for ever and when i came up to him he pressed r, didnt q or anything just r and i died. There was so much counterplay i forgot to use it. also he was 2/2 when i died

Honestly it's sounds extremly hard to believe. Even as a midlaner i don't recall ever being able to oneshot someone with just R at full health, the max i was able to do was Q+R but i was so fed that i could solo carry that game easely, like any champ would do at that point.

Also as a support it's kinda hard for him to get stacks on minions....

Minimum damage is 175 / 250 / 325 (+ 75% AP)... you can see from here that is impossible.

His ult has huge scaling with missing HP. There is no way he could do that unless he had a few hundred CS while you spend the first 15 minutes of the game AFK.

Sorry, I guess I should clarify. I mean one-shot by spell rotation, not by one singular spell. My main intent for this post was a discussion about Veigar, not really to debate on my experience. I only talked about it to mention one side of the argument.

Viegar can not one shot you with his ult.

There is no way his ultimate one shot you unless he was massively, like 7+/0, fed. Its an execute so the base damage would have to be greater than your health bar.
