Position Ranks Made Ranked Worse: Confessions of Someone Who Wanted to Give It a Chance

What do I mean by this? Fillers. The people that dedicated extensive amounts of time to learning to play as many roles as possible and honing their abilities to adapt literally any role they were placed in. Riot said they were gonna award these players with position ranks. They said that fill players would earn more lp than ever but the reality is the exact opposite. Are you telling me that if I jump on the adc role, win three games and then lose one, so I move to jungle to change things up and I gotta earn lp from a division behind??? It's like managing five separate accounts! It's the most annoying thing in the planet. I'm discouraged from diversifying my skillset because I finish a few games top and think about playing ADC for a bit, only to decide against that because my top rank is gold 3 and my ADC rank is gold 4. Like, hell no, I'm not about to spend an entire day's worth of games playing ADC only to end up a little closer to where my top rank is. I'd rather just play top at this point and keep at it. It removes diversity of experience from the game and I find myself getting bored of the game faster by being constantly slapped with FIVE different ranks for each role. It's annoying and hasn't enriched my experience of ranked at all. It makes being fill, or someone who can skillfully play all five roles, feel worse, dull, and irritating.

If you play all roles about equally shouldn't you end up in about the same rank for all of them and if you main something you should expect it to be pretty far ahead of other roles. If Riot had people playing purely in what their MMR for each position actually is a bunch golds would spend quite a bit of time in bronze on off roles. The system is not tweaked yet, but the intention is that when someone gets auto filled they aren't as likely drag their team down, which in turn means that players on both teams have a more equal chance to win. If your plat 5 top, but gold 4 support, and get auto filled support in a plat 5 game your lack of experience in the role could very well be the biggest factor holding back your team. Most people don't like playing off roles, can't really be helped though unless everyone is suddenly okay with double or triple digit queue times. If Riot can get it right it should make auto fill less painful for most players. Tons of people complained about getting filled dinging their MMR, the new system is meant to help those games not drag player's mains down so hard by not throwing all of the good and bad in the same box all the time.

Why ruin everything for the sake of making autofills "feel" better?

Did some high Elo steamer punk whine about autofills on Reddit too much?

Seriously we're "fixing" one little problem for throwing the whole ranked system into crap.

But autofills only feel better because you lose almost no LP. So now the auto doesn't even care! Not due it was such a great fix for autofills.

People still hate autofills. So this whole system was a wasted attempt.

Haven't even had it in my region yet and I already hate it

so what exactly did you think was gonna happen? the system is in place to prevent some guy who's a dia4 riven onetrick playing support on a dia4 level.

Like did you expect your LP to skyrocket to the same as your highest after winning one match? did you expect extra rewards every game? WHAT exactly did you expect?

As they talked about rewards i'd honestly look at the end of the year instead of right now. season 7 we saw the introduction of victorious chromas, every queue got it's own victorious version. They might have rewards based on role this year. Obviously it won't be a skin per class as the line would be oversaturated in 1 season that way but i do hope they have something in store for us. well for you guys i guess.
