What Is More Important To You

//////Fun vs. Winning///// The fun versus winning is one of those arguments I seem to see wage its drunken war upon almost every post I come across, however in all it's nastiness it does really define the League community. This is one of those arguments that does not have A right or wrong answer however it does have solutions. The frustration of a loss or the pride in a win are equal in the development of the "saltiest community ever" (we are proud of this title)

///The Two Types of Players///

It's the passionate fans who really see this as a skilled game. The back and forth chess game in your lane, every skillshot a tide-turner, the minions your pawns. These players are the ones who love the win. They love seeing that LP climb and are often fierce in their playing. they are "Winners" The League community also has another group, the Fans. The beautiful art, amazing videos, intriguing discussions. They play the game for fun and they provide so much, building such an amazing thing out of this game, that we credit them as the true "Lovers" of the game.

///A Common Situation///

With these two groups defined there really is not much left, maybe the trolls, #GoBackToDota2Nerdz. But honestly in a game of League you look at your 2/8 AP Ashe and get a little salty, we all do we can not resisit. Oh and when she hits you with that ";D"

[2:47] JadexxxDrago56 (Ashe): Dont worry ludens ekko power spike incoming ;D [2:48] Liamjarule (Rek'sai): Stfu trash go to sleep and dont wake up [2:50] JadexxxDrago56 (Ashe): dude idc i am just having fun its a game [2:51] [All] JadexxxDrago56 (Ashe): report salty reksai

Now this situation is one of the most common. One player is annoyed because another is goofing off with AP Ashe (or anything for that matter) and feeding the enemy. However Ashe justifies it with it being a game, games are meant to be fun... Yet by trolling Ashe is having fun but the 4 other members of the team are not. The enemy is probably having a good time, someone is getting fed of Ashe. To really say that Ashe is justified to feed and make 4 people have a annoying time for the sake of ¨fun¨ is preposterous.

Riot is trying to fix this. As much as we whine and complain about them Riot works hard as a company. They pump out quality champions, game modes, and tons of material for the fans to use and create. Lets not forget that they give out about 2 free skins a year, A maximum of almost 350 million USD worth of profits. However their problems lie in not drawing the line between the two types of players. Most people play Norms no question about it, so when someone wants to whip out that AD Katarina, it is going to annoy the serious players. However there is no mode to just goof around in. You can make a custom but you still might get flamed or you need a lot of friends to fill up the game. Aram is a different game. and nobody wants to play against the triple Dorans ring Annie bots."But the serious players have ranked just go there." ranked is not the most optimal thing in the world, nobody likes getting AFK or trolls who do not get punished and then you lose 20-30 LP for it. The steps Riot needs to take are exponential, ranked needs more punishment and higher chance of bans and chat restriction however they need to balance the see-saw off with something non-punishable Do what you want" game mode.

In conclusion each group needs to mellow out, Rek'sai sell that Titanic Hydra and snag that Z'zrot portal and Wits End, but AD Katarina in ranked maybe get a Gun-blade after Bork. These things, the little steps we need to take so that at the end of the game everyone is laughing and smiling, those are what will bring us together . Nobody loves this game more than I do, but I know that million out there love it just as much, and together we have made this game the greatest through love and challenge. item 3091 item 3460

Also depends on what's fun to you. I think winning is fun, but I also think losing a close game can be fun, or laning with a random person who turns out to be great. Getting lots of kills is fun. Landing a skillshot is fun.

Playing Bard is ALWAYS fun to me -- the music and the chime hunting.

I love the feeling of playing your main to the point that you just understand and know them. Everything about them is automatic with you. I'm that way with rek'sai (top only, rek'sai jungle is for sheep). I just love how she feels to play, all the options, and everything just works. It's almost rhythmic to a point.

but in the end, if I'm having fun, that's what the goal is. I don't play ranked at all for that reason, it's just fun. Sure I get satisfaction from the win, like anyone else would, but in the end, doing well and just occasionally messing around (with friends) to have a good time is what matters.

See on my main I play to win but not toxic because what alot of people don't realize is talking down a team isn't gonna help at all. Instead tell them its all good. If your as good as your acting as a toxic player then go to the losing lane give them a kill or two. It's not that hard.

I play to win because winning is fun!

It's no use playing for fun anymore, since League kinda controls the meta way too much, and they focus more on balancing only for the Meta players rather than the casuals. Y'know?

Depends on who im playing as, my main is Jax, I dont play to win when I play Jax, I play to see how well I can do, I dont care if I lose the game, I just want to be better with Jax, everything about him is fun for me, even when im doing bad rare as that is, playing while behind on Jax presents a type of challenge that I enjoy, instead of challenging my mechanical skill it challenges my decision making, my what can I do to make it up to my team when I did this shitty. I feel he makes me better as a player regardless of the champion that I chose.

He may be my best champion, but its when I play mid lane that I play to win, picking champs like Malzahar, Diana, and Zed. Im not focusing on having fun when I play these champions, im focusing on pissing off my lane opponent, making them rage, and trying to get the enemy team to be toxic to each other, im a dick when I play these champs (not to my team but to the enemy team)

I typically play to have fun, Cause that usually results in increased chances of actually winning.

I tend to win more when I'm having fun.

I play to win and have fun. I always try to win, but I can have fun even if I lose. The only times that I don't enjoy League is when I get a player like your Ashe example. 1 person's "fun" shouldn't outweigh 4 other player's fun. If you want to play AP Ashe, then play with friends that are also going to dick around and not care. It's a pretty simple concept.

I play the game to have fun, but I won't play something I know won't work. At the end of the day I log on to the game after work to have a good time, not to treat it like a second job and get mad at anyone. As long as what they're playing has actual logic behind it and I can see it working, more power to them. Winning is fun, but I honestly enjoy long 40-50 minutes games that are losses more than the 20 minute stomps.
