Today's Snowdown daily is to play a champ that starts with a J. There are 0 in the free rotation.

It was stupid enough to have just one or two of a mission's permitted champs in the free rotation, but I could at least believe that there was a bit of coordination there. However, having literally zero is going to force many players to do the other option (drop two control wards in each of three matches). It takes longer, but it doesn't involve spending BE on a champ they're not interested in.

Either match the free rotation to suit this type of objective, or reconsider it entirely.

Control wards are a vital part of the vision game though, everyone should be aware of their importance.

When was this changed, and where was it announced? I played NB without all champs unlocked literally less than 20 hours ago.

And... nothing else? The entire communication from Riot on this was a single tweet?

well now it says in the client

Where? I opened the client and logged in, and I don't see it in the "!" button (still just account transfers) or in any of the mission text. I would post a screenshot including both those areas, but they're modal popups and therefore can't both be seen at the same time. On top of that, there is no longer any active mission with a path involving only champs not in the free rotation. The current free rotation has one champ for Mission 14's NB path (Zilean) and one champ for Mission 15's NB path (Garen). It's better than nothing, I guess.

Ah, cool. I mean, still kinda too late for the mission path with none of its champs in the free rotation, but better late than never.

"Forcing" people to use control wards. Oh, the horror!

Using control wards isn't a problem - the issue is that some people might've preferred the alternate mission (two short matches instead of three, or maybe they enjoy NB) and wouldn't be able to do it.

Irony of no control wards in Nexus blitz?

If you're not dropping at least two control wards per match wtf are you doing

Didn't know control wards were necessary for low gold and below ranks.

I get that you're upset, but what's the point of this shitposting? All the champions have been unlocked for Nexus Blitz anyway when the mission you're talking about went live. I did that mission with Jhin and Jayce, neither of whom I own. I don't own Lissandra either, whom I also played with for shits and giggles.

It's not a shitpost. I saw no indication in the client that there was a major change to this mode in less than a day, and the only way for a player who doesn't own these champions to discover it would be to play the mode without intending to make progress on the mission. If anything, it raises a larger issue: where are players expected to go for information? Not the client, I guess. And not Boards either, until my "shitpost." Reddit? Twitter, apparently?

Did you not see the little blue "i" or "!" button on the client that says all the champions for Nexus Blitz have been unlocked?

I saw the little blue "!" but it doesn't say anything about that.

That's weird. Try logging in, I saw it on the client itself. Or maybe it's gone now but was there a little over 20 hours ago, when the mission went live. Either way, I'm sure they sent out an alert.

Plus, you can't really complain that they're purposely withholding or obscuring this information. They sent it out on the client, on Twitter, on Reddit, and onthe boards, and there are even articles from comicbook and IGN mentioning it online.

I can't really say that you not knowing about it is in any way Riot's fault.

As soon as I saw that it wasn't there, I had the same thought, and tried logging in to see if the available messages were different. They were not.

I didn't see it on the client today when I logged in to see the current mission, and all I see pinned on Boards (I monitor Recent on the main page, which includes all sub-boards) is a thread about the account transfer service being down (that's the singular alert in the client), a thread from last week about server issues, bugs, etc. (I checked; it's not mentioned there), and a thread about Nexus Blitz bugs. So I don't know what you're talking about when you claim that this was announced in the client as well as on Boards.

Twitter, Reddit, etc. are not League of Legends, and players should therefore not be expected to monitor those innumerable places for news. Do I also need to check LoL's Facebook page, Instagram, Google+, and every other platform? Or I have to find out about it in a news article (I don't even know what "comicbook" is)? Riot should tell outside outlets rather than informing players directly? That's like reading the morning paper and finding out that you don't have to go to work because the company folded and told the newspaper rather than the employees.

I'm more sure now than I was before that this information was not properly communicated. Riot should be able to communicate critical information to players without a ridiculous scavenger hunt (with no clues nor even the admission that it is in fact a scavenger hunt).

Whoops, you're right about there being no official announcement in the boards. I was thinking of a thread mentioning it on the EUNE boards.

But as for Twitter, Reddit, and the client, I think you're being unfair. I only know about it literally because it was announced as an alert on my client. I have no idea why yours doesn't announce it, but mine did. And Twitter and Reddit are perfectly valid places for information about League because Riot has long standing official presences there that two million+ players use and that's where historically Riot has released their information.

It wasn't a "scavenger hunt" as you put it to find this information out at all. The information was pretty easy and open to find. Even barring all of that, if you had just opened the mode in the first place, you would have known it too.

You just happened to be one of the few who didn't. I really don't get why you're making such a big deal about this.

EDIT: P.S. comicbook.com is a e-sports, gaming, comic/manga, and anime website.

2m+ is around 5% of the playerbase. Meanwhile, 100% of the playerbase sees the client. I'll take your word for it that you saw it, but the deployment of that announcement was bugged to either not show on some clients or not be available for long enough.

Indeed, like I said, the only way for a player who doesn't have these champions to discover this information in the client is to queue up and play Nexus Blitz without intending to work on the mission. Do you think it's a good time to provide information about a mission when someone is specifically intending to not do it? Saying the information was "easy and open to find" isn't a matter of opinion; it's an incorrect fact.

And if everyone and their cousin can make a big deal about "I died to Yasuo again," I can make a big deal about Riot not knowing how to communicate important information. :) In this instance, it could literally have been included in the mission text. >.>

xxxDogmanxxx2 votes

Okay, I get your point. You're right, it definitely should have just been included in the mission text itself. I can see why not doing it would upset the people who don't have these champions. This way the problem would have been non-existent. Riot should do that in the future.
