@Riot just a new idea for some game mechanics on Malzahar

YES! malzahar is my super awesome sauce main mage mcgee!
Now before you start thinking, "oh no this fool is gonna ask for a VU on this BA". STOP RIGHT THERE! Although that would be frikkin amazing, i understand that there are others who are better suited for that spot.
My idea comes with combining Malzahar's story/lore with his kit a little bit more. Unfortunately, i believe that his skills are a bit too similar to kassadin's 
(don't rage i know they are crazy different. i mean like open portal here type of deal). My idea hopes to resolve this issue, BUT FIRST what kind of mage role should fill?
Well Rito got it right with the "sends visions into enemy's mind" idea. He is a void power wielding mage! However, his champ concept seems to be pretty lack luster in terms of theme if you ask me.

If you really were intruding on someone elses mind...don't you think they would notice that a bit more than just seeing a DoT ticking on their champ? HECK YES THEY WOULD.
resolution: when 's "E": Malefic Visions is placed on a champion, there should be a 'darkness' like that of 
or 
's skills and a sound effect of voices/echoes that reads only to that player! Now i know this sounds op, but it doesnt have to be exactly like the loss of vision from said champ's skills. i think it could also work as a purple hued screen to where no vision is lost, just the color changed!
TL:DR- make Malz's "E" have a 'darkness effect' like / and have sound effects like /
except only to one player.

EDIT: please read my reply to the comment saying "THIS IS OP THINK OF THE PERSON YOU'RE LANEING AGAINST". there are many options available to change that and tinker with the idea. Again, this is just a themeatic idea not trying to make him any better or worse gameplay wise.
