My good old pal mister Mute button!

Up until about two months ago, i never used the mute button to cut out the toxic/negative players. I just sat and read all the chat while waiting to see the end game lobby to report the player.

HOWEVER! I have been attempting to mute any player that begins their toxic spew of league trash talking as soon as i see the first attempt. Depending on how bad their first offense was when i muted them, i report them after the game as well. This disables me from getting dragged into BM hell with them and keeps my game 10x more fun!

I guess this is just a friendly reminder that even if someone starts the toxicity, YOU have the choice of whether or not to respond and inflate the situation.

Stay classy, Summoners.Braum

I would encourage people to let others know when they decide to mute someone as currently, people are spewing out whatever they want without knowing that they are doing something which affects their team or others negatively, as to why they don't know, that's because the silence (mute) is literally silent. It wouldn't be too far fetched to encourage a system-update where if someone mutes someone, the system could let them anonymously know that someone decided to mute them, that way they will get a slight warning that their behavior is already unacceptable by someone, however I can also see that causing frustration among players who gets irritated by knowing that they are muted.

Either way, I personally wouldn't encourage players to mute someone else without a reason, in an environment where mute is already being abused is Co-op vs AI, you can rarely try to help those people to get better at something even if you are 100% friendly with 0% hate/abuse. Mute encourages "isolation" which I wouldn't wish to get encouraged.

With all that mentioned, as long you have a clear "reason" to mute someone, please do so.

The only reason I don't mute people is so that I can watch their slow spiral into insanity as the trashtalk has no effect.

And also because I like to be that guy who responds to insults with something like "nice job with that flash, man! totally caught me off guard"

Mute would be a better option if it didn't cause that players pings to go silent as well. Thats the only reason I never mute people, It'd work a lot better if muting someone let you still be able to receive their pings, except put an extra limit on it, if you get muted by someone, the person who muted you should only be able to receive 1 of each ping from you every 10-15 seconds, except very important ones, like fall back or be careful. This would also help map awareness as assistance pings wouldn't be able to be spammed out of anger, or on the way pings out of anger, maybe out a 3 ping limit for On The Way, and Assistance.

Example: If Summoner 1 Mutes you and they ping for assistance, they can spam it because you havent muted them, HOWEVER, since they muted you, and you spam On the Way it'll only show up 3 times, even if you pinged 5-6 times. and itll go on a 10-15 second cooldown.
