Oracle Alteration on support?

Why does everyone recommend taking Oracle Alteration on support (Particularly Thresh) at level 9? I understand that you already have a sightstone, but why not take blue trinket instead? Especially with the new red trinkets not disabling wards and traps.

Someone please help me out

You already have the ability to lay down vision. Vision denial is pretty important as well. The support is pretty good for this because they will never be farming waves etc, and will be the most mobile after the jungler. Other classes get blue trinket, and the usefulness of blue trinket falls down a lot after the first person having it.

It still disables wards, it just doesn't disable traps. Besides, the real point of the item is to clear enemy vision, can't really do that with a blue trinket can ya?

Oracles is pretty important to run whenever you have it up and are wandering the jungle. It helps you clear out wards to keep your team from being picked off when they try to farm your jungle or when they try to invade. It's also kind of stupid to have your whole team waiting to spring a trap on someone while in a warded bush.

Getting yellow wards is overkill when sightstone does the same job but better.

You usually have enough tools to get out alive if you were caught, so super-far sight can be deemed as optional.

And obviously, the importance of vision denial. Especially if you're the only on your team getting it.
