Need late-game tips - Strategy on how to win late game.

I need some help understanding where I go wrong with my game play. For the last, I'd say, 8/10 ranked games, I've won my lane, roamed to helped other lanes, tried to drive team strategy, focused on objectives, and tried to do everything I can to help the team push for a win. The issues is I haven't been winning, and don't understand why. It feels like team mates are never cohesive, other lanes always fall behind, and honestly like I'm playing with folks who are fresh level thirties against seasoned vets. Elo hell comes to mind because I've heavily tuned my gameplay over the last few months and always do well early/mid. Than, the team has to come together and things fall apart.

Obviously every loss or bad play isn't entirely my teams fault; I'm not the perfect LoL player. So I'd like some pointers on how to better control late game since that's where things tend to fall apart.

I've been thinking about it alot since I hit plat, since I believe late game decisions are THE factor separating plats from diamonds.

My #1 thing that I've realized after 6 months of being stuck in plat is that it's alot harder than it looks, but this is my experience:

  1. Do not spend excessive time farming.
  2. Champion kills should also be considered objectives.
  3. Understand which objectives can be given up. Sometimes it is better to allow the enemy team to baron and then defend, than to contest with 3 when 2 are dead, risk get wiped and instantly lose.

well, getting the team on your back is sometimes really difficult.

  • always keep communication open and include everyone (e.g. sth. like "i think we should do xy" mostly works better than "baron!!"...though once you have the trust after some good calls you can obviously shorten that a tad)
  • try to understand the opponents teamcomp and your own and play accordingly - in the game and during picks&bans (e.g. if they have good engage you should be very carefull about splitpushing and leaving your team in a potential 4v5)
  • try to understand the habits of your team and play around them (sometimes thing can be fixed with ("maybe we should ward more?" or "donßt go walking in the dark pls, we need you alive nad well!"...sometimes you just have to stay with your team even if they want to walk in the dark and make the best of their mistakes), same applies to opponents aswell - e.g. if you´re on a tanky jungler and you notice an opponent is getting fed up with your presence build on it. If he blows everything on you in fights instead of your carry that´s sort of a free win.
  • acceppt that you cannot win every game and sometimes losing streaks happen...getting worked up about it most likly ends up just prolonging the streak.
