If you're a low rank, it's your own fault.

I'm a low rank, hell this season I'm unranked.

I never tried too hard to climb out of silver, and while I'm fairly certain I could get out of it, the fact that I never did is 100% my fault.

If I tried to push Gold this season and failed, it would be my fault.

Hell, if I tried this season and ended up being reduced to a bronzelord, it would be my own fault. No other players.

I just reached Gold and here is how I did it:

Don't play solo ever.

Play with smurfs.

Always run a background check on your team.

Is this the game we want, as far as sorting players into their respective current skill levels?

It's honestly your best bet. I'm running into trolls 40% of my games.
