Mystical Facts About Illaoi's Test of Spirit

If you auto attack Illaoi, the duration of the spirit pulled from you will be decreased and you might get it back before you get turned into a vessel.

If you get turned into a vessel, you can avoid taking damage from tentacle spawns if you stay near a spawned tentacle and **NOT ** destroy it. Not destroying tentacles and being near their spawns makes it that you can't spawn any new tentacles and as such no tentacles will lash out at you. Of course this point is moot if you are still battling Illaoi and she will tackle you with a harsh lesson, but it is pretty useful information when you are by yourself and trying to get back. This will help you from dying alone to tentacle spawns.

Short version: Auto attack Illaoi to fight for your spirit back and don't kill tentacle spawns when you or a teammate are a vessel!

Yeah, gotta love those teammates that kill the tentacle you're hiding by after dodging it's first strike.

"Thanks teammate. I managed to dodge it despite her ult making it ultra fast. I totally wanted to try it again with 50hp."

Former Illaoi main here. Here's a helpful tip:

Enemy spirits count as a champion hit when she ults, meaning the spirit gives her an extra tentacle when her ult hits. Additionally, because tentacles automatically attack spirits, when she casts her ult, all spawned tentacles will attack the spirit immediately, and hit enemy champions in the crossfire, giving her a free tentacle command w/o using her W.

This makes ganking Illaoi 2v1 especially dangerous for you. If you can dodge the Test of Spirit, she will be short on a tentacle for her ultimate cast.

I hate how if you kill illaoi while tethered the spirit remains. it removes half of the counterplay of the ability and running out of the radius is impractical in a teamfight.

Oh cool thanks. Didn't know about that autoattacking thing. But imo if you played a few times against her it's pretty easy to evade the tentacles and kill two of em. You get gold back since you can't really farm while being a vessel.

You can get gold back after your vessel debuff is over, but sometimes the spawns auto attack you in a bad place and it ends up killing you and it just sucks. It is much safer if you are by yourself or in a safe place to just hug the tentacle until the debuff is over so you can then smash it.

Pro-tip if you're playing as Illaoi: bandit procs on spirits. Wait at least 5 seconds to receive both instances of +10 bonus gold while attacking it if you can afford to. Spirits also grant an extra 25g when killed. Each E is potentially free 45 gold.

I would like to point out that you often take far less damage if you break the tether than if you stay and let her beat on it, as long as you can evade the tentacles that spawn.

these are fairly obvious for a typical illaoi player, but cool.

illaoi hasn't been touched in ages and she needs a change to her e.

her e currently reduces the duration of the spirit for every time you take damage, meaning champions like urgot can easily take it down.

it needs to be a % of damage dealt/taken instead, to make it more fair.

######she also needs a new skin######
