S ranking too hard to get?

I know the basis behind how rankings are established, where you are compared to others of your mmr in your role/lane/summoners with that champ. That's why taking something like Braum top is easier to get an S ranking because not many people do it.

But I think that, as an unranked (probably high bronze/low silver), when I go 11/3/8 with 50% kill participation and full dragon and mini-baron control as Jungle Diana, and have 2nd highest gold in the game to boot, I should get something higher than a freaking B+...

Can we possibly get the rankings adjusted to account for your game, and not solely on the overall play of everyone at your level? Frankly I don't think I can play any better than those stats, while still being compared to others at this level.

Side note, thanks to this system I'm also finding that I'm "securing" more kills that would better go to others just so I can get my freaking chest, even if it possibly costs us the win to be so greedy.

Did you ever stop to consider it's not your KDR? What else could you do to contribute that you aren't doing? Are you warding enough? Taking towers?

I actually prefer having tracker's knife specifically so I can ward more, so wards placed isn't an issue, plus I average 2 pinks bought per game, usually placed for my laners. Having control over dragon and mini-baron the whole game speaks to objective control.

My CS suffered this particular game because we weren't laning as much as roaming constantly, so I think I had 75 (reminder, I was jungle) by 30 minutes. I donated every Blue but the first two, so maybe I could be greedy and take them myself to speed up my clears and get more farm?

Don't feel bad man, I got an A+ for 14/0/7 with somewhere around 80% kill participation, 100 cs, and ended the game in 21 minutes. I joke that, I can never try on somebody like Aatrox and get S+, but my main LeBlanc will forever be stuck at A+.

Almost makes you want to find an off-meta champ and run them just for the chest. Abuse the system.

Well, if you want to use all the allowed chest, you need to play 56 champions over the season, so you're bound to play off-meta champs if you wanna get all possible chests anyway, it's not abusing the system.

That being said, I do think there are a few quirks in the rankings. For instance, I've got this weird feeling that it's "too easy" to get S with some supports by taking kills, even when you have a barely average game, and that it's sometimes hard to get a good ranking when you snowball a game because you spend all your time roaming and killing champ, so your CS remains very low and you are punished for that, even when it was the right decision in this specific match.

Still, if you really master a champ, it's quite easy to get S with it. I got S on Garen 1 every 3 games on average, and 1 every 5 games on Sion.

To be honest, it's probably because your cs was extremely low. 5 cs/min is bad, especially for that early in the game. You also probably didn't ward enough.

5 CS/Min isn't that bad when you are jungling since you spend a lot of time ganking and roaming.

It isn't great, but it is fairly normal early-game if you aren't constantly taking lane farm or split-pushing.

That's cool and all...but he was talking about his leblanc game lol.

Hey, maybe I misunderstood and he was taking leblanc jg xD

Oh, sorry.

For some reason, I assumed you were talking about the OP.

You know what happens when you assume ;)

Steps to getting S:

  1. Don't die
  2. CS
  3. Ward

I legit get an S the majority of my games.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

I've not had any issues getting S-rank in my games.

Even if I have low-ish kill participation, I don't really have any issues considering that I typically have:

  • Low deaths (since I know my limits and avoid dumb chases)
  • High CS (since I tend to prioritize farm and pushing over kills)
  • High number of wards placed (since I love having vision)

I typically get a chest within four or five games of a chest becoming available when playing solo. This is true even when I pick up new champions.

Will never forget the game i took Shyvana top, went 6/4/1, took 4 towers, 340 cs, lost the game, and got S+
