Do you take lvl 1 with Riven?
sry my bad, *Do you take lvl 1 trades while playing as riven?
I heard Box box say that he doesn't but many other riven mains do; why, and how is this done correctly?

Nah, I skip level 1 and just start at 18 instead. Box box is so good with riven because he does that too.

I would assume level 1 trade viability would depend on the match up. I neither top lane nor play riven though, so that's about all I can contribute here.
In the current meta, trading at level 1 as Riven has a tendency to work out very poorly. New changes to creep agro have made it so that it is much more difficult to harass enemies without taking a lot of damage from the minions. Many of Riven's match-ups also are not in her favor early since she was reworked to scale late game instead of scaling a full AD ratio. In the past things like "Red Elixir" existed which allowed Riven to 100-0 enemies before they had much chance to even get away. Now that she requires items to do damage, this does not work in the same manner. Not to mention that the Red Elixir has been removed entirely from League.
Riven's earliest power spike for trading efficiently would be at level 3 when she is able to poke enemies, CC them, and create distance while soaking counter harass with her shield. Attempting trades any earlier tends to end up with Riven taking a lot of damage and being unable to sustain lane for very long before being forced into recalling.

I don't like trading at level one at all, and even level two trades don't really float my boat either.
I really want the full use of my basic kit before I start trades.

Any champion with mobility will outtrade riven, if he catches you. your best chance is to trade lvl 5 and kill lvl 6.
Please further explain before you post something that makes no sense at all. Not hating, I would actually like to know what you're talking about.
