Did the AI in coop get smarter?

Now, I know the AI in coop games has been idiotic the last few weeks, but is it just me or have they been more intelligent as of the last patch? As in before I never used to see them use ignite/exhaust before, and they also use abilities to a much better effect before they started getting screwy. Just want to make sure it's not just me.
