How is league rank determined in your first ten games

I won 7 out of 10 of my promos and started exactly where i started last season Bronze 3, while I'm winning a majority of my ranked games, my friends usually lose 6 at a minimum and place in silver 5 or higher, is it more effective to actually throw games in your first 10 so you place higher, because I have no idea how the first 10 games work for giving you elo, it just seems random, especially when I place lower when I win more than people I play more often than. obviously kda isn't a matter of concern its all about the wins so how is it decided?

It depends highly on the MMR of the players you are being matched against during the placements. Since you were in Bronze last season you ended up playing other players in that same MMR range which means a slightly positive placement score should put you 3-5 ranks below where you ended. If you friends were in High Silver - Low Gold their less than even placements will drop them in the Silvers since they played against players with MMR in that range.

Basically it comes down to the fact that MMR carries over from last season which influences the placement matchmaking.
